January 21, 201016 yr No, but the only black people on those channels are professional athletes. Maybe one of those channels will have this new basketball league on it. People keep crying about B.E.T. which only shows original programming that has black people in it along with canceled CW shows. You also have to pay for B.E.T. The B.E.T. argument is weak especially when the last show starring mostly black people on one of the "mainstream" channels was 'Martin'. Ironically, if not for TBS, there wouldn't be any shows on television today that stars black people in it. Not even B.E.T. can help out in that aspect. I guess you must have missed The Hughleys, My Wife & Kids, and The Bernie Mac Show. These are shows that I watched regular which were well after Martin. I know that there have been other shows with predominately black cast which were not as successful. And while CW and UPN were lesser networks than the big 4 they had a lot of these type shows as well. Almost forgot does The Cleveland Show count? Morning news shows have Al Roker, Robin Roberts, I don't watch these but I'm sure there would be others. Given the amount of reality TV that is on these days, networks are showing much fewer dramas or sitcom's so the amount TV familys has decreased across the board. But black people do seem to be always well represented on reality tv. I think you are looking for racism were it just no longer exist.

I didn't include CW because they regularly produce and try to introduce predominately black casts to television. At least they try. It says a lot when a guy like Chris Rock can't get his show on one of the big 4. Not to mention, CW is not broadcast in a lot of places. We just got CW in this area within the last year. I forgot about those three shows. All of which were good shows that I enjoyed watching. And yes, I will count The Cleveland Show. Quagmire or Joe could have gotten the spinoff but Cleveland got it so I'll count that. Seth Macfarlane is great at what he does. As for Al Roker and Robin Roberts, I was being sarcastic when saying the only blacks on those channels are in jerseys. Wrong on all accounts as far as looking for racism. I know it when I see it. I am simply stating a case for BET to exist to those calling it a double standard. I see nothing wrong with BET at all. I don't watch it at all, but I don't see the harm in BET at all.

There aren't any shows like this on the mainstream networks. Sure you'll have the occasional supporting actor/actress like Laurence Fishbourne on C.S.I., but there aren't any shows that cater to a black audience like there are an abundance of that cater to the white audience. The shows that cater to the black audience are shown on BET. Does that help you out? You do realize that the Cosby Show, and Different World are syndicated shows that were on NBC for years don't you?

There are minorities on those, and believe it or not, more than just African-Americans. There are other minorities in America too you know.
