January 20, 201016 yr It's a terrible idea, but I have to ask how this would be any different than the college conferences that are African-American only schools? Segregation in any way is a terrible, terrible thing, but I think it's worth pointing out that they cut both ways. It's simply not just whites or just blacks doing this kind of garbage, it's both. :thumb::thumb::thumb:
January 20, 201016 yr I've heard of universities that have a below 6' league. Or under 175 lbs football leagues. Do those discriminate against others? I think not.
January 20, 201016 yr I'm pretty sure schools like Grambling State and conferences such as the SWAC are all-black schools. If those are around, wouldn't it stand to reason that an all-white school or league should be allowed to exist as well? From Grambling's Web site: Enrollment by Ethnicity Black: 4,347 White: 140 Other: 505 Total: 4,992 Percent Non-Black: 12.9% Grambling Quick Facts There are several historically black colleges, but they are not all-black. The only reason historically black colleges even exist was because of the 100 years following the civil war that black students weren't allowed to go to some of the major universities in this country. I'm pretty certain that some of the historically black colleges now have a white majority. West Virginia State might be one.

It was not to long ago, if I remember correctly, that they had to start admitting students other than black students to continue receiving federal money.

January 20, 201016 yr What is wrong with what he said? Why should we judge or call him a liar? He said he isn't a racist and we should believe him. If not then I guess BET channel is discriminative of white people, any "African-American" only colleges or schools must be racist, scholarship foundations for any minority only must be racist. It's time to get over it, if he wants to create this league then so be it. I see nothing wrong with it in principle considering all of the other things that are out there. But I agree that there should be no segregation period. Ummmm...... "But people of white, American-born citizens are in the minority now. Here's a league for white players to play fundamental basketball, which they like." How is that not racist? Non-white athletes don't like to play fundamental basketball? Kobe Bryant doesn't dribble? Tim Duncan never boxes out? Yao Ming doesn't shoot hook shots? How is that not racist? I had to delete alot of this post so I wouldn't get banned, but I don't see how people can see nothing wrong with this. I'm pretty sure schools like Grambling State and conferences such as the SWAC are all-black schools. If those are around, wouldn't it stand to reason that an all-white school or league should be allowed to exist as well? You do not have to be black to go to a school like Grambling or Southern. Those schools are traditionally black because of racist ideals nearly a century or so ago. Put in an application for Kentucky State or another traditionally black school, if you meet the academic criteria you'll get in. :idunno:
January 20, 201016 yr It was not to long ago, if I remember correctly, that they had to start admitting students other than black students to continue receiving federal money. While that may be true, I don't believe that all-black schools are as invidious as all-white schools. I am not of the opinion that color-blindness is the magical answer to this country's race problems. It's about acknowledging and rooting out the unfair power structures at the bottom, not simply getting Congress and the Supreme Court to say: "Okay, everyone's equal now." That just isn't going to do it.
January 20, 201016 yr Who is going to be the Commissioner of this league, Beck or Limbaugh???
January 20, 201016 yr I must agree that I don't see the logic behind things like All African American schools, or the "Black coaches association". However I don't agree with having an "All White" league either. Major double standard in our country IMO!
January 20, 201016 yr With the black coaches association what's the problem? For years black qualified candidates were passed over for jobs. Things like this bring awareness. Nothing but good has come out of it. It's not a double standard IMO, it is just a way to ensure that candidates who are qualified are not passed over because of race.

Try starting a White Coaches Association. If one group can't exist neither should the other.

Race should play absolutely zero role in it, but because of things like what you mentioned, it gets interjected. If there are 2 equally qualified candidates, and one is black and the other is white, regardless the choice, someone is going to scream race played a part in it. To me, implementing rules and the like that force race to be interjected into a decision are counter-productive.
January 20, 201016 yr Try starting a White Coaches Association. If one group can't exist neither should the other. Seriously? I have to disagree. White coaches, to my knowledge, have never been discriminated against in the coaching field as a whole. Did I miss an era to where whites were not thought of as qualified candidates as head coaches? How many non-white coaches were in the pro and major college leagues before 1988 when the BCA was created? There have been 19 black FBS football coaches in the HISTORY of Division 1 football. Today 11 of the 120 programs have black head coaches. That's not even 10 percent. Add in other minority groups and you probably have what? 15 coaches in college football that are not white? That argument is just wrong and there is no way around it. White coaches have never been discriminated against in pro and college sports and are by far an overwhelming majority. I understand where you are coming from but you have to look at the "Big Picture". These groups were started because minorities in this country were being discriminated against not just because. I don't disagree with what you're saying, but black and other minority group coaches are still a minority in sports. The program was started in the 80's when few black coaches were in pro and major college sports. That's why it exist. To whine that there isn't a "White Coaches Association" is insensitive and uniformed IMO.
