You seem to keep coming back to this "For a 2A team" mantra.

 

Boyle's Leffew (who made the team) played on 2A Boyle then.

 

Tamme spent half of his career ('99-'00) on a 2A team. Boyle the moved to 3A and won 2 more state titles there. :thumb:

Jones went to UT when they were really good.

 

While....Cole went to Vandy and Dewalt went to UK.

 

I don't know about Cole, but Lonnell was offered by Michigan, Michigan State, Louisville, West Virginia, etc. He went to Kentucky because of it's proximity to home and because he knew he would see immediate playing time. So let's not play the "where did they go" game. This is about how good they were in high school in the first place.

 

I don't know what Worm's stats were in high school. Coach Wood never called passing plays nearly as often as I thought he should have anyway. Dewalt's junior year there was a 6'7" receiver Leroy Wilson that was on the other side of the field. And yet Brock Whitney only threw for 1900 or so yards. We had one single 2000 yard rusher that year, and as a team rushed for much more than that. I think I remember Worm having something like 50-60 catches for around 1300 yards his senior year. I know he had 14 TD receptions because that was a record for receiving TDs in a season at Central.

Brock Whitney was not a great QB as a junior. He was a little better as a senior but i'm sure that factored into Coach Wood's play selection. In terms of sheer athletic ability and size give me Lonnell Dewalt over anyone. But Dewalt was lazy and as was proven, he was not the sharpest tool in the shed.

 

Robert Reynolds is a head scratcher not on the list from 90-99. Was one of the most dominating defensive high school players in recent memory. Of course he wasn't good enough to play LB at UK. So his choice came down to Miami (FL) and Ohio State. He was a 2 year starter at LB and won a national championship with the Buckeyes and was a 5th round pick of the Tennessee Titans.

Wasn't aware he was as highly recruited as he was.

Tamme made it at a position he didn't play. Why not Burton?

I think there should be an "athlete" position like on recruiting lists

and put Burton there as well as Bush. I remember Michael Bush playing

receiver, safety, and QB but did he even play RB in high school?

I think he was a RB until his Senior year.

He was a WR until his senior year. He may have played some RB but I don't think it was ever his #1 position. I could be wrong though.
