I'm pretty sure he never played RB, and if he did it was sparingly. His senior year, he was QB, before that a WR. He also played LB, SS, KR/PR as well, I don't remember any RB play.

He was a WR until his senior year. He may have played some RB but I don't think it was ever his #1 position. I could be wrong though.

I think his QB play has over shadowed what a stud he was at WR. Bush was probably the best high school player I have ever seen in person and it isn't even close.

Chris Jennings from Fairview. Had he played at one of the big name schools he would have been more high profile. Not to mention he is playing on sundays and scoring against the Pittsburgh Steelers!

I'm guessing he was a pretty good football player at Fairview but I'd never heard of the guy prior to this thread. Looks like he had a very good Sr season posting 2000 yds w/ 32 scores, and had 1200 and 20 during his Jr campaign. I wonder how he ended up in Tucson?

I would take Michael West from Lawrence 2002 over Beach since they were in the same district and played three times, West dominated him every time over a three year span;based on a three year total comparison and rushed for almost 2,000 more yards than he did in the same amount of playing time. IMO I believe that others are more deserving than both these players even tho both were great in their own aspects. Also, I know that he wasn't a great college player but Gerad Parker and Montrell Jones are worthy mentioning because of sheer numbers.

Michael Bush played RB almost exclusively his Jr. year.

Bush's career stats are crazy. 3000+ passing, 1000 rushing and over 2000 receiving.

I think Parker didn't qualify because he was gone in 99 I think same with Hamblin. I might be wrong. Both were two of the better in state history. M. Jones was also as good as I've seen in high school. I agree about Mike West too. Probably one of the best players in state history that never got the pub he should have.

 

Grover was a beast if he qualified. I think some others worth mentioning are Justin Burke from Lex Cath. His numbers were crazy his SR year! T. McBroom was a very good athlete! Doug Howard didn't have the flashy numbers but was one heck of a high school back. D. Beaumont and Vic Anderson both had great high school careers. Duggins (I think that was Boyles QB) while he might not have been major D1 what he did in his career at QB is 2nd to none team wise. Rob Reynolds was really good! Chris Lofton was one heck of a WR that people forget about. Haddix at Breathitt was another nice QB.

That is a great list. Those are just some kids that came to my mind real quck.

He had to attend JUCO for a year prior to going out west. He had problems in the classroom or he would've been with someone like the Purdue Boilermakers straight out of high school.
