Wow! 17 of 25 mentioned signed in state with either KY or Louisville. Thought those teams might have been better over the last 10 years.

 

Yeah, I posted a fairly comprehensive list (at least for the last 2-3 decades) of KY players who went D1A. After a while I got kinda sick of typing "University of Kentucky" and "University of Louisville".

Four Northern Kentucky kids that did not make it:

 

Brent Grover, Highlands - LB Purdue

Sean Sester, Highlands - OL Purdue

Mike Mitchell, Highlands - DB Ohio U

Brandon Engelmon, Holmes - DB Michigan

 

Mitchell is playing on Sundays now and he couldn't make Field's all-decade team?

 

Also no Montrell Jones, Male - WR Tennessee/UofL (would like to see a comparison of Jones vs. Cole/Dewalt)

I wouldn't take Mitchell over any of the 3 DB's listed. I don't know much about Cole but I wouldn't take Jones over Dewalt either.

Not a bad list! While some arguments cab be made to add others, no one can really argue that those listed don't deserve to be there.

Joe Casey over Arliss Beach ... Casey was a USA Today All-American and a better RB than Beech, even if he didn't have a college career.

I don't know, I believe Jones was definitely more talented than Dewalt, neither had much of a college career. Jones was electrifying, everytime he touched the ball, he had a chance to score. Dewalt was very very tall for a HS WR, which definitely worked to his advantage in him earning the success he did in HS.

In Fields defense it looks like all the DB's picked signed with bigger name football schools that Mitchell. Maybe he considered that in his equation. I can't really complain about his list.

I am not going to say Jones was that much below Dewalt but no way I see a case for Jones over Dewalt. Dewalt was a man amoung boys in HS.

I wish I had a film of the Warren Central/St. X game to let you see how dominant he was. I don't know how you can say Jones was "definitely" more talented. Last I checked, your height and build was part of said talent. You don't think a good amount/most of a person's talent comes from their physical gifts?
