Kentucky 73 Stanford 65 (OT)

Wow, what negativity. UK just picked up an overtime win to move to 6-0 on the season. The win was the second in as many nights, in an odd environment, against a Pac-10 team that may not be great but is well coached, and all everyone on here is doing is bashing players for being spoiled and the team for their ranking? Color me confused.

Look, I'm not making excuses. The Cats didn't play great. But if you look at every championship-caliber team they always have these types of games. Is Kentucky a championship-caliber team? Who knows. But I don't think an eight point overtime victory diminishes them much.

Are the Cats the number five team in the country? Probably not. But I'm not sure there are more than five teams I'd pick to beat Kentucky on a neutral court. But perhaps more importantly, it doesn't matter. This isn't the BCS. Kentucky isn't hoping to win out and make the Sugar Bowl.

You guys have to realize that the University of Kentucky isn't going undefeated. No one is going undefeated this year and I don't believe it will ever happen again. The days of UNLV '91, Indiana '76, and San Francisco '55 are long since past. What we should all do is take a step back, relax, remember that it's the sixth game of the season, and most of all remember that KENTUCKY WON!

You know as well as I that the negaitivity stems from the unrealistic expecatations that have been put on these younsters for the last 4 months. Do they have a lot of NBA talent, yes.?Do they have a lot of experience, no? It takes time to make a great "team". Right now they are riding Wall for the most part, the rest of the guys will figure it out. When the experience catches up with the talent, this team is going to be dangerous. But when you go from unranked, and missing the tourney to being a top 5 team there are going to be a lot of bandwagon fans/unrealistic fans.

Like I said earlier, UK is top 5 talent. But they are no where near a top 5 team as far as results go.... right now. I fully expect them to be there. They've got to figure out what kind of offense their going to run (right now they don't seem to be running much of anything). I'm not sold that this current roster is equipped to run the DDM. I think utilizing their frontcourt talent is their key.

2You've got to be kidding me!! The kid makes 1 big mistake and you call him spoil? Are u a UK fan?

You've got to be kidding me!!

UKCF, have you EVER watched him, and seen him when a foul has been called on him??? Cousins acts like a spoiled brat, like it's an "outrage" that he could even possibly be called for an offense.

I expect that kind of behavior out 5 year boys in Walmart. NOT out of a 20-year-old man-child.

P.S. there are kids in my family that sometimes act like that. And even though they are family, "acting like a spoiled brat" applies to them also.

6-0, I'll take it. I don't think UK got their 6th win until game 9 last year. Yes Cousins does need to mature, but the guy can play. For those of you saying he tried to give the game away. What about all of the positives he did in the game? The guy is a huge talent, and really be scary good once he matures, and learns how to play the college game. This team is exciting to watch, and it sure beats getting on here talking about loses, and stupid substitution patterns by Gillispie. I can see it hasn't taken long for some of you to go right back to being spoiled again.

My brother from another mother puts it perfectly. Well done.

He is better than I expected he would be at this point.

He got emotional and threw his headband. So what? I'll take that vs a "who cares - I got my stats" attitude. He knew he made a mistake and reacted to it.

Got a question on a call in tonight's game. R. Harris drove the lane, made the shot. The ref counted the shot, but called him for a charge (I think)?? Then they walked to the other end and the Stanford player shot free throws. I thought there were not shots taken on a player control foul. The only explanation I can come up with is that the foul was called on another UK player, if so who got called for that foul? Can someone help me out here?

Perfect example of a rule that is different in college than it is in high school. In high school this play would have resulted in no basket and Stanford taking the ball out of bounds. NCAA uses a different rule which we saw last night.

By the way I haven't seen it mentioned yet, but did anyone else see Dwight Perry come of the Stanford bench at the end of regulation. I wonder who he was really rooting for tonight?

Thats funny LRCW I saw it also.......Did anyone else notice the UK fan in a tight UK shirt. They put the camera on him and he was clapping and looking down at his bicep to see how it looked. He was getting his flex on. It was hilarious.

We are six games into the season and undefeated I cant remember the last time that happened. I can't believe anyone would dis a team that is winning games. I for one am happy. Go Cats!!!

I'm glad Kentucky is 6-0. But, realistically, the biggest issue is that they are a team of individuals who are all used to being the BMOC on their respective high school teams. Once they finish learning that college ball isn't about one player, and about every player (including the bench), they'll win more convincingly and be a terrific team.

I think they have several issues...most importantly IMO is a lack of focus or willingness to defend EVERY posession. I think though if you watched all 6 games it isn't about them being one player. I think they have a been a very unselfish team early on. Almost to much so on breaks.

^I think they are very unselfish.

I don't mean they're selfish. I mean that it seems that individually, they all think it's up to them individually to put the team on their back and carry them to a win, when in reality, if they stick to the plan, and remember that not just one person can win the game, they do better. That doesn't mean that one player or another won't stand out in a game. It means that one player doesn't decide on his own that he's the one that has to create all the plays. The plays for a player are created for him by what his teammates.

I'm not explaining it well, but I definitely don't mean they're selfish.

I am personally not a huge fan of Cousins to be honest. He does have some bright spots, but man does he have some things to learn.

I call this team "My heartattack Cats"

Did anybody else notice the offense that Stanford ran? Look familiar? They ran FLEX! The offense ran by every high school team across the country!

It's amazing isn't it.

UK has started out 6-0 once (03-04) since the 92-93 season. In fact, the 03-04 and 04-05 seasons are the only ones since the 94-95 season that the Cats have been undefeated heading into December.

I admit I don't know much about the dribble-drive offense, but so far this team seems puzzled on offense. Stanford threw a zone at them (which I believe most teams will this year) and all I saw was 4 guys passing the ball around the perimeter and 1 guy inside and not a whole lot happening until someone free lanced it. I realize they're still learning but I watched a very young Gonzaga team last night and they had flow to their offense. UK doesn't. It's helter skelter.
