Varnado will dominate Cousins when they match up. Cousins is not mentally ready, among things, to play in the SEC.

I disagree with this statement one hundred percent. Cousins is way too physical for Vanardo, and will own him on the boards. Cousins has played 6 games and I feel like he will improve alot before UK pays a visit to Starkville in Feburary. Demarcus is going to be a force.

I'm not disagreeing with either of you, but I don't think Varnado will just be flat out dominated by Cousins. He's the best post-defender since Greg Oden-IMO. I am not saying Varnado will lock him up, but the game plan to contain Cousins is out there: go at him early and go at him often, get him into foul trouble and don't let up. I think Varnado has the best shot in the country at locking him up.

With that being said, I don't see it happening; but I don't see Cousins dropping 20 and 15, if he does indeed put up good numbers on Varnado, please someone bring this post back up and I will gladly eat my crow :thumb:

HAHA. I respect that, you know that won't be too hard on here.

One mistake on the court does not define Cousins. Did you not think that there would be moments of frustration and mental break downs? We'd be naive not to expect that. Quit being a critic and support the team!! They are winning! Isn't that what you want? I've never seen a group of fans that criticize so much even after a win. It's the exact reason why we have bad reputation nation wide as unrealistic demanding fanatics. It's also naive to think that it doesn't effect recruiting because I know it does. I have a brother who was on Nolan Richardson staff at Arkansas and I've heard Nolan himself say so. We would all be better and happier if we'd quit criticizing and just support the team. It would take a while to change that bad rep but it would definately help out UK and the team. It would make Cal's job easier when trying to land the top recruits in the nation. I know it would have a good effect in recruiting.

:jump::jump:Lighten up man. Cousins has a ton of growing up to do and deserves to be criticized. He does not listen. Just go read the article in the Lex. Herald and see what Coach Cal had to say. Let people have their opinion. :ohbrother:

You've got to be kidding me!!

UKCF, have you EVER watched him, and seen him when a foul has been called on him??? Cousins acts like a spoiled brat, like it's an "outrage" that he could even possibly be called for an offense.

I expect that kind of behavior out 5 year boys in Walmart. NOT out of a 20-year-old man-child.

P.S. there are kids in my family that sometimes act like that. And even though they are family, "acting like a spoiled brat" applies to them also.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

A spoiled brat? Because he disagrees with a call. And yes, I have seen every foul called on him this year and I think you're exaggerating just a bit.:rolleyes:

I'm not saying that THE KID(yes, he may look like a man but he's still a kid) has not got some learning to do because he does but calling him a spoiled brat after 2 weeks of the season is absurd! It's fans like this who get on a public forum andcall our players brats and spoiled and a child that makes us all a laughing stock. Do you think this helps with recruits? What top recruit would want to come to a school where the expectations are unrealistic perfection from the moment you step on the court. Where there is no room for growing and no tolerance for mistake. Where you are criticized and scrutinized on every dribble and shot you make. While Cal and staff may overcome this obstacle with many recruits, don't think for a second that we may lose a big one from time to time because of this. I just don't get it, I just don't get why people would want to hurt something that they claim to love so dearly.:idunno:

First, note the original statements. "Acting like". That doesn't mean you ARE one, but the behavior is similar to.

Second, to disagree is one thing; to stomp around and disrespect the official in such a blatant fashion, yes, that is acting spoiled. I've seen it several times from him.

Even on BGP we expect members to listen to and respect it's officials (mods). Recently it was pointed out to me that I had inadvertantly violated a rule. If I had acted in a similar way to the moderator/official (publicly whine & pout), I would have been booted off of this site. We expect reasonable behavior from everyone, whether they are a 53 year old geezer, or a 16 year old kid.

Third, "calling him a child"? You used the term "kid". Kid = child

Fourth, this is a "fan site". Discussing what we like/don't like, approve/disapprove of, want/don't want, etc. is what this site is intended for.

Fifth, regarding recruits. Yeah, a fan website is the LYNCH PIN of Cal's recruiting efforts. :rolleyes: All of the history/mystique/tradition/coaching/potential that UK has to offer will be brought to a halt, because a fan website is not filled with TOTALLY fawning fans. A couple of negative comments (true, btw) by a fan are going to keep someone from coming to the best program in the country??? Right. :ohbrother:

Maryland runs it a lot to...you dont see it a lot in its basic form, but Stanford does as well as Maryland.

I noticed Maryland runs it alot too. It is an offense that works great for high school teams! Someone will eventually get open for a layup, it just takes patience.

If you have any questions about Cousins...STEP UP AND TRY AND GUARD HIM!!!

Give me 10 inches and about 110 pounds and I'm in. :ylsuper:

Can we agree that Varnado is much more mature mentally than Cousins is? Cousins has an attitude problem as seen near the end of regulation against Stanford with the intentionally missed free throw.

I figured that would be your response but whatever, it doesn't matter what I say cause nothing is going to change how you criticize the players. Comparing Cousins actions to rules on BGP is laughable but again, whatever.

Lastly, you are being naive if you do not think that recruits look at the actions of fans when deciding. Now don't take this out of context like you did above, I sure it's not a sole reason for anything. BUT!!! With the different schools having so much to offer now-a-days, it's naive to think that it can't be a factor when a recruit is torn between loving 2, 3, or even 4 schools. Trust me, I know it does from experience with talking with recruits. Just look at the recent comments from Brandon Knight. I think that says it all for a kid to publicly say that he liked a school because their fans weren't "too crazy"

I'm not here to argue with you, you have your opinion and I respect that. You've paid to voice it on here and so be it. I just wish some of you would realize that you're not helping the program by bashing and criticizing our players.

Fair enough. I have two issues though.

1) Never said "spoiled brat" once.

2) Am I calling him an idiot? No I'm saying he acts childish, which is exactly what he needs to be told. I said he made a lot of dumb decisions, which is unarguable. I don't understand how saying those two things about a player is bad? I didn't know the rules to this forum are if you're going to say anything at all, it has to be positive. :rolleyes:

That's why I put that "disclaimer" at the end. I wasn't refering to your post in my comments. I agree with alot of your posts. I should have been more specific, my apologies.

Give me 10 inches and about 110 pounds and I'm in. :ylsuper:

:ohbrother::ohbrother::ohbrother:

Kentucky won. Sure, they did a lot of things that we all wished they didn't, but they still won, something they probably wouldn't have done under BCG's and Tubby's era. I really don't understand all the negativity.

Great Point!! I don't understand it either. Some fans say they want to win but even that is not good enough unless we win by 20. I wish people would listen to Coach, he said that this was going to happen. I find it very promising that we've won these games cause I think we would have lost these same type of games last year. We are going to make plenty of mistake as Cal has said, we have a very very young team with tons of growing to do. We have had freshman taking HUGE shots and winning games for us. That has to be a positive thing. So our big guy Cousins had a mental breakdown, that DOES NOT define him as a person or even player. It's just 1 mistake even though it was at a crucial time in the game, that's it. WE ARE WINNING!!! THAT'S WHAT WE WANTED!! THAT's WHAT WE ARE GETTING!! Coach said we would be wrong 75% of the time early in the season and we'd be right 75% of the time come March. It is going to be a process with more mistakes to come, I am sure of that but it's ok. It's expected and they will get better and the sky is the limit with the talent we have on this team. We need to be patient with this team, we need to be patient as they learn, grow, and as they mold into a great team. I really can't wait for March!! Go Cats!! You do have many more fans than critics, I promise you that!! Keep up that hard work!
