I know I also saw 42 up in the middle of that play. Basic grade school football at that point. 2 Safeties 40 yds deep. "No one gets behind you!"

Isn't a safety's job to be just that -- the last line of defense? You can't let anyone get behind you in that situation. And his job is to make sure Stokely doesn't get behind him (or whoever else was back there).

 

I'm not saying Williams is a bad safety but it's mental lapses like those that wore out his welcome in Dallas.

He took 3 big steps before he hit him too. I said the same thing. Plus, there was another safety in front of him AND the DB who knocked it away. He has to be smarter than that.

Roy made a bad decision. If he stays back, they still catch the ball and kick a field goal most likely. I was happy with how he played yesterday until the fluke at the end.

It was a fluke, so I am not going to get in to blaming whomever. Stokley was in the right place at the right time. You are in the NFL and going up against other professionals, things like this are bound to happen when you let teams you should beat play with you all game. The lack of points on the board by the offense is the reason the Bengals lost the game.

You can't put all the blame on Roy. Crocker was there too. Both are to blame for that play IMO. I heard Marvin was blaming Leon Hall for batting it up in the air. The guy tried to make a play on the ball, his safeties didn't do their job.

They are taught to bat the ball up in air unless it is a last play hail mary situation.

Tough break for the Bengals at the end of the half. Looked to me that A)the receiver bobbled the ball yet the replay booth allowed the catch and b)the receiver had possession across the middle followed by 2 steps and THEN fumbled. That was a 6 for the Bengals going the other way had the official not blown the whistle. I thought the refs leaned towards not blowing the whistle on close plays and then would let the replay take care of it.

The Bengals only had 10 players on the field for their last return with 11 seconds left. Classic Bengals. The coaching staff was aware, but I guess they wanted to save their 2 timeouts?

 

Why did the officials put 18 seconds back on the clock? They said that it was because Cincinnati Challenged & lost, meaning that they should be charged with a timeout. But you cannot challenge with under 2:00, so I was confused about that?

 

Defense played well. Offense struggled. I hate Bratkowski. He's not the only problem, but he's a big part of it. Palmer missed the entire preseason basically, so seeing the offense out of rythm isn't unexpected.

Someone else said it, but the only thing worse than the actual pro teams IN Cincinnati, is the fans and their constant negativity and poor outlook on everything. No wonder the teams suck so bad, they have no support from anyone around..all they hear is how bad they suck and how bad their coaches and owners are.

 

There is plenty of support for the teams. But they are professional athletes. When they screw up, I'm going to let them hear about it. If they suck, they suck.

Bad luck for the Bengals. But, forget about that last play, they beat themselves. They moved the ball well for much of the game, but continually shot themselves in the foot with typical Bengal mistakes.

 

Botched FG...penalties, etc. Denver shouldn't have been in a position to win at the end if Cincy had taken care of business.

 

The Bengals defense was really physical. Roy Williams, whether he blew it at the end or not, played well I thought. I was surprised. He welcomed Knowshon to the NFL. Moreno probably thought Josh McDaniels was Mark Richt and he was back in Georgia when he went back to the sideline.
