August 19, 200917 yr A healthy Favre isn't a top 10 (probably not top 15 IMO) QB anymore.... He probably was still at top 10 QB last year before his arm injury, and that was with learning a new offense. If he is arm is healthy again like they say, then no reason to think he wont go back to the form he showed early last year. Especially since he is back in an offense he knows, and has a much much better running game. He is not the center of the offense like he was with the Jets. So that should also make him a better QB and cut down on interceptions.
August 19, 200917 yr Here it is! The media has absolutly driven this into the ground. Had they stayed out of it then it wouldn't have been the circus that got on everybodys nerves. None of us have walked in his shoes but think about this. I hated to walk away from the game as a player when I did. I didn't play all the years he did. He very well could be the biggest competitor in history. The Pats, Giants etc have had vetern players that they don't make go through all the off season stuff and it has worked for them. I know how sore I used to be after games so I couldn't imagine what somebody his age goes through after the pounding of NFL defenses. Even more the grind of the off season. That isn't including the death of family, wifes cancer, pain addiction etc he has gone through. If the man need some time to think in the off season if he can handle it mentally and physically then so be it. You know what you are getting with him! I here all this selfish balogna the media sparks up and it makes me laugh? If he's so selfish then remind me how many games he has taken off for the beating his body has taken? How many did he miss when his hero died? What about with his wifes cancer? Real selfish isn't he? Funny how you never here his teammates talk about his selfishness instead it's about his toughness and leadership! Funny how the Vikings players were even talking a couple of weeks ago how they wish they had him? So selfish I guess? Green Bay had a decision to make. It was a tough one. Let Rodgers go and play the waiting game with Favre or let maybe the biggest player in the history of your franchise go so you don't lose the young guy. They made their decsion and knew the backlash that was possible. Rodgers is a nice QB even though they had a bad record. So be it. Understandable to keep him. They then knew they couldn't keep Favre because of the pressure if he were on the bench. They opted to let him go but not to the team he wanted to go too. Selfish of Favre for wanting to go to a team that was only missing 1 postion QB or selfish of the franchise for telling him he wasn't their guy but they weren't going to let him go where he wanted? He went to the Jets for 1 reason...to get to Minny! His body is failing him some but before he started having trouble he was playing good ball. Nobody talks about the running game. Look up Ryan Grant with Favre and without... look up Thomas Jones stats last year! You think this might help AP or do you really think they are better with a lifetime backup (who I think can be good) or T. Jackson? They got Sage because they weren't happy with T Jacks they got Favre because they weren't happy with either...not rocket science! Now on to the selfish Favre.. OK Brett we think since you haven't missed a game in about 15 years we are OK with you not being here in the off season. (I do think it hurts timing and how hard he throws with his WR's but it's worth the risk). If you come here we will give you a top 3 defense...a top 5 Oline... a couple of burners at WR..a capable TE... a new toy in Percy Harvin and probably the best player in football to run the ball so you can take some pressure off and see easy coverages you have never seen. Oh yeh we'll also give you almost 10 million dollars a year. Let me guess none of you all would do that if you were in his shoes? Come on people get real! I like the Packers and Favre. I cannot wait to see AP and Favre in the same backfield. I also heard D. Driver and B. Papinga talk today and they were all about Favre playing because of his passion for the game. Guess the guys that lined up with him think he's selfish too.. The Giants do not do this often. They have done it once that I know of and that was with Strahan. He was considering retirement and came back for his final season (and won a superbowl). He was also fined for missing training camp.

When someone w/ that kind of reputation who has been around the team long enough wants to sit out the summer while they "think" about their future you let them. GB already had a guy they thought could replace Favre so they made him walk after he wouldn't decide before the draft about his future. For a guy that brought that franchise back from the dark ages they should have waited. They knew he was coming back. He just had them in the NFC title game.

My Grandpa has worked blue collar jobs in Pittsburgh his entire life and everytime we've been there for the holidays the past couple years he says he's retired, yet still ends up going back to these jobs everytime. Some (not necessarily myself) are beginning to believe that Favre loves the attention and his "indecisiveness" is a facade to hype himself up. P.S. Favre doesn't care about the media attention, he's not T.O. Some would argue otherwise. I didn't say I was one of them. Regardless, there are different ways to milk the media's attention. T.O.'s way is to be in front of a camera- Favre does it by being out of the camera. I do find it a bit odd that both both offseasons, it's not like "Favre signs deal with ______!" Instead, it is, "Favre is considering coming back" and 5 weeks of speculation. Once again, though, this isn't necessarily what I think- in fact, I devote very little time to such matters- but one possible perspective.

So that should also make him a better QB and cut down on interceptions. That's the whole point, as old as he is, if he does come back healthy, it's just a matter of time before he gets injured again. They better be looking for an effecient backup.
August 19, 200917 yr I think this is a better fit than the Jets. Reason? Running game. Vikings have it, and then some, Jets did not. Favre will not be relied upon to carry the team with Peterson running the rock. All Favre will have to do is keep the DBs and LBs out of the box more often to open up more lanes for Peterson. The Vikings could be in the NFC title game this year if everyone stays healthy.
