I don't think we're going to see the Favre from the late 90's or beginning of the 2000's, but I think his presence will allow Peterson to run with a less loaded box. Last season he saw 8 men and still had a great season. With Farve you can't do that obviously. I don't think Favre is still an elite QB in the NFL, but he is the Vikings best option for this season.

However, if not for him, they would never have been in contention in the first place. They were in the bottom 4 in nearly every rushing category, but in the top 4 in passing yards & #8 in passing TDs. Without Favre last year, they would have been a bottom dwellar the entire season.

I'm not agreeing with UKMustang, but if shoulder problems caused him to knock them out of contention, is there any reason we have to believe that shoulder problems won't cause him to knock the Vikings out of contention?

On the other hand, Minnesota has Adrian Peterson and a TREMENDOUS running game that the Jets didn't have. They are in MUCH better shape than the Jets were. If the Jets would have had a running game, Favre wouldn't have had to carry them so much. I am not a huge Favre fan, but think this is probably a very good fit for both.

I like this move for MINN. Except for in the checkbook, it can't hurt them IMO.
