August 18, 200917 yr A healthy Favre isn't a top 10 (probably not top 15 IMO) QB anymore.... He is better than what they have. You take a chance to upgrade your team when you can. He doesn't have to be a top 10 QB for that team to be really good.

August 18, 200917 yr I'm not agreeing with UKMustang, but if shoulder problems caused him to knock them out of contention, is there any reason we have to believe that shoulder problems won't cause him to knock the Vikings out of contention? Yes because the shoulder was a Biceps Tendon which has been repaired.

August 18, 200917 yr A few things: Thomas Jones combined for over 1500 yards and 15 TD's so to say the Jets ground game wasn't good is off. Favre was pretty good before the injury. They dominated the Titans last year and were playing better than anyone in the AFC at the time. Dominated. To say he wasn't a big reason for that is off. If you are a player for Minnesota and your choices are Sage Rosenfels and Tavaris Jackson you're doing back flips that Favre is there. W/ that defense and running game they are probably favored to win the NFC. Anyone who doesn't think Favre is a top 15 QB in the league needs to start listing them. Good luck placing him 16th.
August 18, 200917 yr He's supposedly starting fri night. I'm glad someone is smart enough to bring up Thomas Jones. Go look up Ryan Grants stars with and without Favre! What do you think that spells for AP? I just hope he's healthy!

August 18, 200917 yr A healthy Favre isn't a top 10 (probably not top 15 IMO) QB anymore.... They just need a respectable player under center, IMO. Rosenfels doesn't give you that, he's garbage. Jackson is unproven, oft-injured and hasn't polished his passing skills enough to really help Peterson.

August 18, 200917 yr Favre gives you the "what could happen", for the opposing defense. With the other 2 QB's on the Vikings roster they don't really do that, nor do they strike fear in opponents. Whether or not Favre is really effective or not he makes defensive game planning a challenge and that alone is worth the signing because it opens up the field for the team to make plays.
