Brett Favre Will Sign with Vikings

So your argument is that he would have won a lot of close games for the Packers, but couldn't for the Jets because of his injury?

They definitely probably wouldn't have started off as bad as they did, and they would have probably won some of those close early games that they lost. Not to mention who knows if he tears his bicep if he is still in Green Bay. He tore in while getting his arm hit on a throw. I mean I really don't get any of your all's arguments here. I know I know most of you all are tired of hearing about Favre blah blah blah. However you all can't argue that he still can play, and be successful, so nothing wrong with him coming back. People also don't have much of an argument considering Favre only missed the playoffs once during his time in Green Bay, while Rodgers already has missed it. Its not like Rodgers took over a bad team either, he took over a team that lost in the Conference Championship game. So I mean what is the argument here? Favre has shown that his teams win, and finds ways to win usually. While Rodgers has shown that his teams lose close game with him as QB so far. I am not arguing that Rodgers is bad, I think he is going to be a great QB in the NFL for a long time. I am just saying still that Green Bay messed up last year, and that they would have been better with Favre if he was still there. His experience probably would have helped them win some of those close games that they lost. That was the argument that I had originally in this thread, and just thought I bring it up again as we seen Favre once again helping his team be a winning team.

Statistically, over the past 4 or 5 seasons, he can play the first half of the season. That's my biggest argument with Favre. I'll wait to the end of this season to argue with you any further about the issue.

I wonder if Brett Favre had anything to do with that. :sssh:

Oh I am sure he did. I mean his decision to play a QB with a torn bicep, even though it was obvious his play was bad with it, yet he kept playing him. Unless I am wrong, Favre was not the Head Coach of that team, so the head coach could have decided to make that tough decision and sit him. As a player though, if a coach is going to let you play then your going to play. I mean any player would do that.

His play at the end of seasons have dropped off some, I can't argue that. However don't you think most QB's play would drop off some going from playing in warm weather, to cold windy conditions like at Green Bay? Then not only last year playing at New York where its also cold and windy, but playing with a torn bicep as well? I mean come on people, guys numbers would go down some after that. The fact is though, when he has been playing QB his teams win, as shown by his teams only missing the playoffs twice.

 And typically Favre-like selfish to continue to play despite knowing you are hurting your team.

Well people like to use the argument on how he sucked at the end of last year, which I admit he did. However I bet you would have a hard time finding many QB's that would still do good while throwing with a torn bicep.

Hey, but at least his "ironman" stigma is still in check. That's the important thing.

 Priceless

No, most would have the common sense and lack of arrogance to not insist on playing when they know they're not capable of doing so.

I think it would be hard for you to find many players that if they are cleared to play, that would volunteer not to play. That is just funny how you call that selfishness. That is just being a football player, players if cleared to play are going to try to play. Its up to that coach to determine though if that player is hurting the team. That is when the coach last year should have stepped up and benched him with that injury. I mean seriously though I can't believe you are going to get on Favre for playing though, when any player would try to play to if they are allowed. Especially if its during the playoff push.

Oh, but wait, that's the coaches fault.

You know this how? I mean a football player is going to try to play, if they are allowed to. Every person even when injured would still believe that they can get it done. A coach in that situation needs to step in and make that decision that the team would be better off without him playing. As I said before when did Brett Favre become the Head Coach of the team last year? If he was also the head coach, then he needs to be making even more money.

Oh, but wait, that's the coaches fault.

No, no, no. It's the coach's fault that they lose. Brett is the reason - the SOLE reason - that they win. He's all that AND a cup of coffee. He could take Detroit to the Super Bowl. Honestly, really. He could. I swear. Even with a broken leg and one arm.

That's essentially all he's got left apparently. Thank God, the Jets got Favre last year, or they wouldn't have broke .500.
