I'm not revisiting the debate regarding the initial decision to move on without Favre. I'm saying right now, today, Aaron Rodgers is a better QB. Few people would disagree...and the majority of the ones who do are wearing Favre colored glasses.

 

I don't think that is a for sure thing. As I said before out of the two QB's last year, only one of them was able to make his teammates around him better and get his team to overachieve. While the other in Rodgers didn't make his teammates around him better and had his team underachieve. I mean a guy could have better numbers, but it doesn't really mean he is the better player. Especially when it comes to the QB spot. There is a lot more to it, and Favre as a QB as of last year still made the players around him better and the team. Rodgers failed at that aspect. So I don't see how people can say Rodgers is the better QB out of the two yet. Maybe now in his second year starting he will do that, but as of right now he still has not. So Favre IMO gets the edge until Rodgers shows he can do that.

I'd rather have Rodgers over Favre right now. Rodgers team had a lot of injuries last year and it was his first year starting. I think they'll be a lot better this year.

Adrian Peterson will rush for 3000 yards this year with Favre under center. If Rodgers were there, he'd be lucky to break a thousand.

If they were ready to move on without him AND they thought they had a better option why not release him? Why were they so adamant that he retire or play for a team that won 4 games the year before in a different conference. My point about respect was if they weren't going to let him wait they shouldn't have tried to tell him who he couldn't play for. He at least deserved that from the team.

 

I would agree they owed him that. I quoted your post because it led into the point I wished to make. I am not totally against your arguement at all. I don't believe the deadline was unreasonable, but things could have been handled better.:thumb:

Whats the discussion? I mean last year is over with so we can discuss it. My argument is that Green Bay would have been better last year with Favre still. He probably would have helped them win some of those 8 close games that they lost last year. Like him or not Favre's teams find ways to win. There is a reason why his teams have only missed the playoffs twice with him as QB. One of the years was last year, and it had a lot to do with him tearing his bicep in his throwing arm. Rodgers is a great QB, but last year the Packers would have still probably been better with Favre.

And the Jets lost a bunch of games late last year as a direct result of poor play by Favre. And they seem to be winning just fine without him.

My bad, I thought you had an argument. Favre, the past few seasons, does very good the first half of the season before getting tired, playing tired, contemplating retirement, or whatever it is he does. I'll wait till the mid season rift before I'm ready to jump back on the Favre band wagon.
