Who was better than you thought they'ed be?

Featured Replies

From day one Daniels impressed me, his shot didn't always look picture perfect but he sure could finish. Nazr also exceeded expectations.

Fitch, Daniels, Hayes, and Moss.

The bolded would be the ones I choose (I have been a fan only for the last 10 or so years).

I am shocked at the success Prince and Rondo have had in the NBA, although that isn't the original question.

PG - Anthony Epps

SG - Cameron Mills

SF - Ravi Moss

PF - Eric Daniels

C - Nazr Mohammed

Mel Turpin developed into a much better player than I thought possible. Also, Pelphrey, Woods, Farmer, Feldhaus go in as a group.

I really think Meeks has turned out better than expected to be.

Jared Carter... I thought he would be horrible and transfer to Pikeville during his first season. He was able to tough it out on the end of the bench and graduate from UK. Plaudits and accolades abound!:thumb:

I thought he would be pretty darn good after seeing him play in high school but I dont think I can say I thought he was be as good as he has turned out.

Ravi Moss. I know it has been said a bunch, but that is who I thought of as soon as I saw this.

I always liked Bobby Perry. I don't know how touted he was coming out of high school, but his senior year he had a lot of bright spots, including the NCAA tournament.

You can make an argument Bobby Perry is one of UK's all time greats in the NCAA tournament. He was a beast in the tournament his final two seasons.

Nazr Mohammed and Marquis Estill were both quite overweight when they came to UK. They made incredible improvements while they were part of the program.

Padgett and Cameron Mills would be my other selections.

Mohammed would be the one I pick, the weight he lost made him a player and millions of NBA dollars. Coach P. could have opened a fitness, diet center back then and made a bundle.:scared:

I didn't think Padgett could play at all. He was a big surprise. Also I wasn't that high on Tony Delk after his freshman year, but he blew up after that.

For UL Alvin Sims was much better than I thought he would be.

Marquis Estill

Nazi Mohammed

Eric Daniels

Those were the first three that come to mind for me. When each arrived I wasn't real sure, but they turned out pretty well.

Remember watching us play against him at Madison Central, and didn't think he would see much PT at UK. Some of the others mentioned I had not seen play, so wasn't sure what to expect. Also it has been mentioned that you can't go by the Star rating of players. That being said, he is the one that has suprised me the most.
