March 13, 200917 yr HIS biggest mistake? Yes, him leaving UK . I still think it will NEVER happen, but ...........
March 13, 200917 yr I think the reason most people are in love with Coach Cal is because he reminds them of Pitino, nevermind the fact that he isn't half the actual coach that Slick Rick is.Really? UMass split two games with Kentucky during the 1995-96 season, the team some UK fans may be the best of all time. How many players on that UK team made the NBA? How many did UMass have aside from Marcus Camby? Heck, some UK fans probably can't name any of the starters on that UMass club ... they weren't exactly future NBA stars. That UK team had way more talent, yet could only manage a split with UMass. And Calipari is doing just as well at Memphis as Pitino is at Louisville. If you don't like Calipari, that's fine. If you think he's shady, so be it. But don't act like the man can't coach and doesn't have a tremendous record in the college ranks.

He took UMass from nothing and made them an NCAA force from '92 through his departure in '96. That '96 team was one great college player and some smart, tough players around him. UK should have blown them out in the Final Four and were on the verge 3 times and every time they found a way to claw themselves back in. :thumb:
March 14, 200917 yr Yes, him leaving UK . I still think it will NEVER happen, but ........... Maybe it was a short term mistake. But the thing about Pitino is how he turns things around. After what could be considered a failure in the NBA, he returns to college ball, and turns around a floundering Louisville program. He's in a great place, and I doubt he feels it was a mistake to leave Kentucky at this point. He seems to be the type of person that wants to be where he is now, not dwell on where he was, or where he could have been.
March 14, 200917 yr Daren Horn at South Carloina,, He is from Lexington. He had success at Western and he had a great year this year at South Carolina and beat BCG twice. Those 2 losses knocked UK out of the NCAA. I think he would be a great choice.

I agree, but his great year has been with the SEC being very down. Would like to see what he can do when the SEC regains its form first!
March 14, 200917 yr My first choice would be John Calipari My second choice would be Jay Wright My third choice would be Mark Few
March 14, 200917 yr There are obviously some high profile coaches that I would like to see come here. And I for one am not ready to give up on BCG. My one question is if we can't get a Donovan, Wright, Calpari type, what about a Stallings (vandy) or Stansberry. They have constantly solid programs at Places that would be tough to win at consistantly. They both would know and understand the pressure at UK (being in and coaching against them for years.) I would rather see one of these guys than Ford, Pelphrey, or Miller...

Not saying it would happen, but Pitino did consider going back to Providence this summer.
March 15, 200917 yr How about Tim Floyd? There has been some trouble at USC, allegations of violations and some squabbles among players. He might consider such a move.
