March 12, 200917 yr ^Just because he's from Lexington, doesn't make him anywhere close to being qualified....
March 12, 200917 yr Daren Horn at South Carloina,, He is from Lexington. I agree. He is a hometown boy, and by the judges of this year at USC, he is an outstanding coach.
March 12, 200917 yr So you would have no problem with your team hiring a coach that has been proven to have cheated? Yes, everyone deserves a second chance, and perhaps the reason he hasn't taken a big job yet, is because he is waiting for the right one to come. What is it about Calipari that makes you think he is such a horrible coach?

What is it about Calipari that makes you think he is such a horrible coach? Well other than the fact that he's a slimball, he is a great recruiter, no doubt about it, but he hasn't won a darn thing with it. I think the reason most people are in love with Coach Cal is because he reminds them of Pitino, nevermind the fact that he isn't half the actual coach that Slick Rick is.
March 12, 200917 yr Lets make another run at BILLY DONOVAN. Throw more money at him than he can refuse and try to sign him to at least a 5 year deal so that he doesn't feel worried about us crazy fans.

But really, how many mid major coaches today have had as much success at Cal? Few has never been to a Final 4, and he is the closest thing to Cal in terms of Mid Major coaches today. It is extremely difficult to win a National Title as a Mid-Major in both NCAA Football and Basketball, and the fact that Cal made it to the national title game says a lot to me about his coaching ability.

So are you really trying to say that the guys he brings in would play better if they were wearing a UK or UNC jersey? Who cares if they're a mid-major? That doesn't change the fact that he consistently is bringing in top 5-10 classes with nothing to show for it.

No, but at Kentucky I think Cal's classes would be better than the ones Roy Williams has brought in at Carolina. Calipari pulls in top 5 classes on his ability alone, imagine that teamed with the name "Kentucky" on the front of the jersey. But I'd assume you'll argue it doesn't matter that your school is prestigious, that has no bearing on a recruit's choice at all.

March 13, 200917 yr I would like to be in Lexington when Rick Pitino comes riding back into town. What a sight that would be. Really? Because, if this info below is to be believed, he plays a style of ball that isn't really "Kentucky Basketball." Or, at least, it's slower than the current version ... :sssh: Here's the adjusted tempo ranking from Ken Pomeroy's site. Just for reference, UK was 159 and 221 Tubby's last two years. 1 - VMI 5 - UNC 8 - South Carolina 33 - OK St. 34 - Davidson 47 - Arkansas 69 - UGA 71 - Miss St 76 - Auburn 82 - Tennessee 84 - Kentucky 85 - Louisville 87 - Nova 91 - Duke 93 - Bama 122 - Xavier 129 - Memphis 150 - Florida 170 - Pitt 180 - Morehead 181 - UCLA 184 - Vandy (slowest SEC team) 197 - WKU 210 - Minnesota 263 - NC State (slowest ACC) 266 - UC 277 - Georgetown 302 - Colorado (slowest Big12) 324 - USF (slowest BE) 332 - EKU 342 - Wash St. (slowest Pac10) 343 - Iowa (slowest Big11)
March 13, 200917 yr Author I was told tonight that if there was a change to look for Sean Miller to be at the top of the list... He's not a prven enough bench coach, IMO.
