Beechwood 63 Covington Catholic 56

Most pathetic post I have ever seen. If I were an alum of CCH I'd certainly be more embarassed of you than the BB team.

I agree... and as mentioned earlier, Cov Cath has to earn wins like everyone else, they are not given to them. This happens to be a year where Beechwood is the better team, no shame in that. Congrats Tigers..

Great shooting by the Tigers. The missed layup by Maschinot and the foul on Luke (questionable call) were the daggers for CovCath. It was just not meant to be. Good free throw shooting by Beechwood at the end too.

Why oh why are these always "questionable" calls? The announcers on the internet said it was a foul.

It was 50/50 but what made it questionable was there is no way the official that made the call could have seen the foul. He was blocked off by both kids bodies and the guy on the baseline had a much better look...

Great, well played game by both teams. Buettel used an early drive and then the 3 FTs to get things rolling in the 2nd half and didn't look back. The step back with Ives in his face was nasty.

It was LOUD in there and my throat hurts...

Agreed. This game was what tournament time is all about. Back and forth early. Each team had a nice run. Clean and well played game by both teams. Game still in doubt in the last minute. Excellent battle to kick off tournament time.

I saw it clear as day, as I was under the basket. Maile smacked most ball if not all ball. I didn't say it was 100% a bad call, I said it was questionable. I thought it could have gone either way and in that situation I thought a no call was necessary.

Congratulations to Beechwood for a great win for their program. CCH has no reason to be embarrassed. I am sure their players played hard and gave it their best. They had a lot of adversity this year with illness to several players. That can be hard to play through. Also, contrary to one poster's comments, CCH has some very fine athletes. Luke certainly comes to mind, but he is not the only one.

The three that went in then out for Shover was a heart dropper. With everything he has been through he deserved for that to go in. When he did come in early he gave them 5 points early with a pull up jumper and a drive and kick out for Ives to get an open look at three. Overall, congratulations to Beechwood and Cov Cath for a well played game.

The ref thought it necessary and he has the whistle! :D

Buettel was lights out tonight. Cov Cath tried a number of defenders on him but no one could shut him down. Excellent effort. A couple of backbreakers... Cov Cath up 9, Buettel fouled on a 3, hits all three (of course) the comeback is on... Cov Cath makes a run in the 4th quarter and brings it to 4 and then grabs a big rebound followed by an unforced soft pass toward the point guard that is stolen by Beechwood resulting in a quick 2... Beechwood preparing to inbounds the ball under their own basket, Cov Cath setting up strategy while the ref hands the ball to the Beechwood player who makes a 1 foot pass to an unguarded man for the easiest 2 of the evening. Beechwood played a great game and deserved to win. Cov Cath showed alot more spunk than they had over most of the year.
