Obama VS Limbaugh

Featured Replies

RowdyRedRam calls Rush a "hater" because he dares to disagree (in this case, with Obama).

Since you disagree with Rush, by RRR's definition, YES, you ARE a "hater".

I'm not speaking for him, but I think the use of "hater" (specifically with quotes) is pretty much exactly what Alabama Larry was talking about. Rush Limbaugh speaks a rhetoric of hate/negative imagery against the Democratic party. He uses many brainwashing tactics in his programming. I don't think it's his actual intent to brainwash his audience as much as entertain, he still uses those tactics nonetheless. And, again, like Alabama said, if he didn't, he'd probably be out of the job.

I have said before (not in this thread) that Rush Limbaugh is not a politician - he's an entertainer. And I have no problem with that. Every side needs that kind of voice, because occasionally they can make a valid point that their side can rally around because this person has such fervor and passion. The only problem with that is there leaves very little moderation and open-mindedness, which I am a big fan of.

I also have no problem with what Obama said, because I agree - politicians shouldn't follow the lead of extremists. He likely called out Rush specifically because he's such a mouthpiece against him, and it only makes sense. I really think the bad call Obama made by this comment is the fact that Rush now has the same ammo against Obama as many in this thread do. All Rush is going to do is take the comment and make it out to be the biggest blunder in the administration.

Seems to me Obama needs to concentrate on running the country. Personally I don't think the radio listening habits of congress and the senate are a priority. IMO singling out an individual citzen in that forum is inappropriate, I don't care if he's a radio personality or not. Seems to me he's trying to silence Rush.

The so-called Fairness Doctrine doesn't exist as of now.

But that's NOT what he means, is it. You can tell that by reading the post above this one, which includes the whole context of Rush's quote.

Then I request that you quote the same way. You didn't include part of my statement where I said if that is what he meant.

I have made it clear on here that I don't like Rush, I think he's detrimental to the Conservative side, just my opinion.

But....I see those of you defending Obama on this as, well...

That is exactly the point I was trying to make. You stated it better than I did. :thumb:

Whether anyone agrees with Rush or not, I do not think it is an acceptable practice for our Pres. to direct anyone in what they should read, watch or listen too.

You just have to know Limbaugh is loving life right now. He eats this kind of stuff up.

That he does. However that how Obama does works. He's acting like he's still campaigning or something.

The problem is people like Rush Limbaugh, who care more about their personal finances, then the country as a whole. Look up his salary.

I make nowhere as much as Rush, but I agree with him. In fact the only reason I began to listen to him is that he agreed with me.

Rush, others like him and I care greatly about the USA. We care about the changing of the Constitution into something it was not to be, at least without amending it. We care about America because it is the defender of freedom, freedom that represents as little government interference in our lives as possible. We care because in an atmosphere of freedom anyone with hard work, ideas and fortitude can achieve. We care because, while we have problems, this a nation where anyone can rise above what they are today and leave their children and future generations better off.

Government cannot accomplish this through laws and stimulus packages. Government does have its limited role, but not to create wealth for people or sucess, but to create an atmosphere where the creative talents and hard work of individuals will pay off.

This same government will help care for people in tough times, but otherwise stay out of individuals lives.

YOU, make this country work...NOT government! If, (IMO) you believe everyone and I mean everyone should have the same car, shirt, shoes, house, hat, TV, radio, video game system  etc., and that just saying "Bad guys, please don't do that," then Obamaville is where we will all live (until the bad guys move in ).

Life was not created to be fair. If it was, everyone would have my family and my problems. My life is mine to make better or worse and that is as fair as it gets or should get.

Care about the future of this country with a bigge government? Pick up a copy of the "Federalist Papers" by James Madison, John Jay and Alexander Hamilton.

Dittos RUSH :fight:

How did I misquote you? I used your ENTIRE COMMENT that dealt with Rush.

(the other part dealt with Hannity)

Best post in this thread. :thumb:

Questions: It has been years since I have listened to Rush. Is there anyone out there that is more "far right" than he is? Did he ever provide any support of President Clinton, who was more moderate than what people assume Obama to be?

Absolutely. Ann Coulter is so far right she's circumnavigated around to the left. Im republican but she scares me. I also agree with other posters about Sean Cannity....he isnt nearly as radical as Rush and not even close to Coulter. One last thing I'll say about Rush....he is paid to keep those ratings up and saying contoversial things keeps people tuning in!!

That's the part that people tend to forget. It's money and shtick. If Rush truly was as passionate in his beliefs about how the country should be led, why doesn't he get off the sidelines and run for office? Because the pay is much less.

Give me a Mike Huckabee that is willing to put his life out there to be seen and to get off the sidelines and act rather than sit in a chair and talk into a mic for a huge paycheck.

Just to clarify, you aren't implying that those who dislike or disagree with Rush and the like do NOT care about the US, are you?
