January 24, 200917 yr Author Class envy:eyeonyou: No, I just care more about the United States of America than I do about a man who is paid to generate ratings and spread propaganda. Rush, by saying he wants our leader to fail, obviously doesn't care. Because like I said, when the president fails, the country fails. (see GWB). I'm sure Rush doesn't want the country to fail...He wouldn't be able to earn all those millions (that perplexes many) in our free society that enables him to do so if it were to fail. Now if Obama does succeed in what many believe will be socialism then the freedom of someone like Rush expressing his views freely will no longer exist. Read Rush's statement again and tell me if you think he wants the country to fail.
January 24, 200917 yr You know Obama's policies are going to fail and America is too? No. But I do know that Obama can fail and America succeed. To think that Americas success or failure hinges on one man is beyond naive...

Rush, by saying he wants our leader to fail, obviously doesn't care. Because like I said, when the president fails, the country fails. (see GWB). Sorry, but I don't consider my country as a failure. If one man can cause this country to fail, it's not the country I've always believed it to be.
January 24, 200917 yr Sorry, but I don't consider my country as a failure. If one man can cause this country to fail, it's not the country I've always believed it to be. The country has failed in taking care of the poor and the sick and the oppressed. In Rush's full quote mentioned above he referenced the mortgage industry the banks and health care systems. Apparently the people running them have not done a very good job and the market did not monitor their behavior. The market and private industry has no moral compass it must be guided by the people and in our country the people speak through the government and elections, and I think they have spoken clearly in the last few election cycles. Rush is a demagogue. he may not even believe everything he says, but he is not out to unite the country. For him to succeed there has to be an enemy, a demon that he is railing against. If Obama is successful and the economy improves that demon enemy goes away and then who will Rush rail against. His job is not secure if the country does well under a democrat.
January 24, 200917 yr The "Fairness Doctrine" is right around the corner. This is crazy that our President of the United States is worried about what GOP leaders are listening to on the radio. Obama - Going to be feeding us "little" steps of Socialism throughout the next four years.

Now if Obama does succeed in what many believe will be socialism then the freedom of someone like Rush expressing his views freely will no longer exist. Read Rush's statement again and tell me if you think he wants the country to fail. Rush has explained what he meant by that comment... He doesn't agree with Obama's policies and thinks they will be detrimental to the success of the country. With regards to that, he thinks the best thing for America is for Obama to fail in his attempt to implement his policies. Thus, he wants him to fail...not because he wants America to fail, but exactly the opposite. Rush is an intelligent guy. I have no doubt that he knew that statement would generate the resopnse and reaction that it did. It was most certainly a calculated statement. In our cut-and-paste society, he knew that one line would be latched onto with no desire to put it in context. However, Rush Limbaugh isn't the only person who feels that way...just like many people on the other side felt the same way about Bush. Trying to paint Limbaugh as an unpatriotic guy who wants America to fail is wrong and putting words into his mouth while ignoring what he actually said.

The bolded is an example of the liberal lack of understanding of Rush and his listeners. Rush's heydey, and meteoric rise in popularity, occurred during the Bill Clinton salad days.
January 24, 200917 yr The "Fairness Doctrine" is right around the corner. This is crazy that our President of the United States is worried about what GOP leaders are listening to on the radio.Criticizing it and attempting to muffle it are two entirely different things. Exactly who are these public officials that are clamoring for a reinstatement of the Fairness Doctrine? I keep hearing from the right that it's coming back, but that is the only time I hear it mentioned.

Exactly who are these public officials that are clamoring for a reinstatement of the Fairness Doctrine? I keep hearing from the right that it's coming back, but that is the only time I hear it mentioned. Democrats are all about controlling the media. They have the TV's and newspapers in their back pockets. NPR was a huge failure so now they want fair and equal time on the radio. To tell you the truth if the Fairness Doctrine goes down, its a complete and blatant violation of the First Amendment. Just give it a little time. I've heard some of the politicians talk about it, like a senator from New Mexico.
January 24, 200917 yr Criticizing it and attempting to muffle it are two entirely different things. Exactly who are these public officials that are clamoring for a reinstatement of the Fairness Doctrine? I keep hearing from the right that it's coming back, but that is the only time I hear it mentioned. Per Wikipedia Some Democratic legislators have expressed interest in reinstituting the Fairness Doctrine,[18] although no one has introduced legislation to do so since 2005. In June 2007, Senator Richard Durbin (Democrat of Illinois) said, "It’s time to reinstitute the Fairness Doctrine,” [19] an opinion shared by his Democratic colleague, Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts.[20] However, according to Marin Cogan of The New Republic in late 2008, "Senator Durbin's press secretary says that Durbin has 'no plans, no language, no nothing. He was asked in a hallway last year, he gave his personal view'—that the American people were served well under the doctrine—'and it's all been blown out of proportion.' " [21] On June 24, 2008, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (who represents most of San Francisco, California) told reporters that her fellow Democratic representatives did not want to forbid reintroduction of the Fairness Doctrine, adding “the interest in my caucus is the reverse.” When asked by John Gizzi of Human Events, “Do you personally support revival of the ‘Fairness Doctrine?’”, the Speaker replied "Yes." [22] On October 22, 2008, Senator Jeff Bingaman, Democrat of New Mexico, told a conservative talk radio host in Albuquerque, New Mexico, "I would want this station and all stations to have to present a balanced perspective and different points of view," and "All I’m saying is that for many, many years we operated under a Fairness Doctrine in this country, and I think the country was well-served. I think the public discussion was at a higher level and more intelligent in those days than it has become since."
January 24, 200917 yr Limbaugh is a "hater" . Obviously, I am just a Rush hater RowdyRedRam calls Rush a "hater" because he dares to disagree (in this case, with Obama). Since you disagree with Rush, by RRR's definition, YES, you ARE a "hater".
January 24, 200917 yr My values are CONSERVATIVE my friend. My values do not include paranoia, fear or hatred. If you are insinuating that my values do include these things because I listen to Rush...I take offense to it.:fight: In my opinion (that I hope I'm still entitled to) conservative values can get things done in government. If there were more, if any, conservative politicians in Washington right now we wouldn't be having this conversation. There is a difference in the way you and I are seeing this issue. You think Obama picked out Rush because he is a conservative. I think Obama picked out Rush because he is divisive. The two thoughts lead this discussion in entirely different directions.
January 24, 200917 yr I have made it clear on here that I don't like Rush, I think he's detrimental to the Conservative side, just my opinion. But....I see those of you defending Obama on this as, well...

The term hater is in regards to the methods used to describe the opponet. Did you happen to catch that I used the same device on him? It has nothing to do with him disagreeing, it has everything to do with his methods of attack.
