I disagree. Fear and paranoia are valuable motivators. Fear is necessary. Fear is human. One problem that Republicans have is that they get too comfortable and therefore not motivated about certain salient issues. I admire Democrats to some extent for their energy at times, and Rush does an excellent job of creating the fear and paranoia necessary for Republicans to see that many things Democrats are doing could send this country down the tubes.

I thought in his Inaugural Address Mr. Obama wanted to reach out and end the bickering in DC. I see the hypocrisy has already set in for him. The listening seems to be a one way street and anyone with a different thought just needs to be quiet. Not everyone sees government spending as a way out of the recession.

Are we to ONLY listen to Obama's side of everything? Is our president so insecure he's afraid of Rush?

To be fair, this stems from Rush's bashing of Republicans who have decided to give Obama a chance to succeed. He asked the question "why" should we last week on his show. This is shameful to me, I also say respect the posittion and hope and pray for the best for our country.

 

I agree totally with this anti Rush). Our elected officials are paid a large amount of money to represent the people of their voting districts. They should be educated enough to form their own ideas and not have to listen to loud mouth "shock jocks" that get paid to cause controversy, and produce ratings for their respective employer.

 

I don't think Obama is saying, listen to me only. He is saying let's try to work together and not let radical pill heads form our opinions for us. This goes for Hannity, Combs, Matthews, Olbermann, etc...

Do members of Congress not already know this? Are their minds so child-like that Obama actually has to condescend to tell them this, as if they were 3rd graders? Or was it something that he really just wanted to slip the name in there as a play for the cameras.

My values are CONSERVATIVE my friend. My values do not include paranoia, fear or hatred. If you are insinuating that my values do include these things because I listen to Rush...I take offense to it.:fight:

 

In my opinion (that I hope I'm still entitled to) conservative values can get things done in government. If there were more, if any, conservative politicians in Washington right now we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Fear has both pros and cons, no doubt. But it is one of the few emotions that causes immediate reaction, and sometimes an immediate reaction is what saves the airliner when geese fly through its engines.

I think he's right. I think Republicans shouldn't spend too much time listening to blowhards like Rush or chicken-littles like Hannity, just as Democrats shouldn't listen to left-wing nutjobs either. Both sides in Congress (and people in general) should make the best possible decision on over issue without being driven/prompted by people on TV/radio. Remember, the main objective of people like Rush is to stir the pot, garner listeners, and collect money. He's not a staunch Republican for free.

 

The only problem with the highlighted part is, Obama has to listen to Nancy and Harry.

Apparently, to Obama, Rush Limbaugh is not a person worthy of inclusion in his new inclusive American vision. All persons ar equal, but some are more equal than others. He spent his campaign telling everyone that because he had social contacts with Wright, Rezko, etc. that that did not mean that he bought into their politics, but here he presupposes that GOP leaders who listen to Rush buy into his.

 

If you think about this clearly, it is ludicrous that the President of the United States is actually mentioning Rush Limbaugh during executive addresses to members of Congress.

The energy the Democracts have created is bordering on paranoria. They talk as if this is worse than the Great Depression. The recession Carter left behind was worse than this. Democrats know how to make a mountain out of molehill.

 

I have listened to Rush for years and what you have to do is understand some of his weird humor. If you do not listen to him on a regular basis you may not understand him, whether you agree or disagree with him. What I stand for, and what he better articulates, is less government the abilities of Americans to succeed without the government regulating or taxing us to death.

I really question if they do know, and I mean both parties...

 

If they do they need to act like it. I get so tired of personal agenda's for $$$. If you work in government, you work for the people. You don't work for liberals or conservatives, you work for the tax payers. That's what's wrong with our country, IMO.

You have to read the quote, with the entire story, to understand it. It was quote directed toward unifying the parties more...

Rush Limbaugh says he hopes President Obama fails. If this is truly what he meant then, to me, he wants this country to fail. Mr. Limbaugh wants the economy not to recover. Our military to not win the wars we are fighting.

 

I wouldn't put Mr. Limbaugh in the same league as Sean Hannity. I listen to him everyday on the way home from work. Mr. Hannity I can agree with sometimes.
