January 24, 200917 yr If this is truly what he meant then, to me, he wants this country to fail. Mr. Limbaugh wants the economy not to recover. Our military to not win the wars we are fighting. But that's NOT what he means, is it. You can tell that by reading the post above this one, which includes the whole context of Rush's quote.
January 24, 200917 yr Tell that to the families loosing their homes and people loosing their jobs. Like the ones where I work were their hours have been cut. Tell that to the mothers, fathers, wifes and kids of the men and women who will loose their lives fighting in the wars. How does that have anything to do with what I said? What’s so hard to understand that If Obama's polices are going to hurt America and put us in a deeper hole economically, make us less safe as well as taking us further from the country God wants us to be then yes I "hope" he fails. Do you want him to succeed with his polices even if the end result is bad for America? If so then you probably find yourself in the crowd that Rush referred to last week as Cult Followers that basically think Obama has the answer to everything and we should all follow him wherever he leads us without asking any question as to where were going…
January 24, 200917 yr nWo, please use quotes IN CONTEXT. Here is the exact radio transcript, with relevant context. "I've been listening to Barack Obama for a year-and-a-half. I know what his politics are. I know what his plans are, as he has stated them. I don't want them to succeed. If I wanted Obama to succeed, I'd be happy the Republicans have laid down. And I would be encouraging Republicans to lay down and support him. Look, what he's talking about is the absorption of as much of the private sector by the US government as possible, from the banking business, to the mortgage industry, the automobile business, to health care. I do not want the government in charge of all of these things. I don't want this to work. So I'm thinking of replying to the guy, "Okay, I'll send you a response, but I don't need 400 words, I need four: I hope he fails." (interruption) What are you laughing at? See, here's the point. Everybody thinks it's outrageous to say. Look, even my staff, "Oh, you can't do that." Why not? Why is it any different, what's new, what is unfair about my saying I hope liberalism fails? Liberalism is our problem. Liberalism is what's gotten us dangerously close to the precipice here. Why do I want more of it? I don't care what the Drive-By story is. I would be honored if the Drive-By Media headlined me all day long: "Limbaugh: I Hope Obama Fails." I agree with Rush: I want Obama to fail (to impliment his disastrous policies), too! Don't get caught up in details, just drink the kool-aid and keep the cup as a souvenir...
January 24, 200917 yr Succeed at WHAT? It depends on what his goals are. If Obama wants to take our country far-left (& I think he does), then I don't want him to succeed at that. If he succeeds, America succeeds. I don't care if it's from the left, the right or down the middle. As long as America succeeds. You do realize, in the long run, if the president fails America will fail. Look at the last 8 years. I am so sick of parties-left, right...blah, blah, blah.

January 24, 200917 yr Author If he succeeds, America succeeds. I don't care if it's from the left, the right or down the middle. As long as America succeeds. You do realize, in the long run, if the president fails America will fail. Look at the last 8 years. I am so sick of parties-left, right...blah, blah, blah. Please define "succeed" as you see it. For instance...If everyone has a nice home, health inurance and a million dollars but live under the thumb of Government do you consider that success?

January 24, 200917 yr Please define "succeed" as you see it. For instance...If everyone has a nice home, health inurance and a million dollars but live under the thumb of Government do you consider that success? The definition of succeeding varies. Right now, to me, it is finding a logical (who knows what they may be-if you do know head up to D.C. and fill in everyone else) way out of this financial disaster we are in. Getting our troops out of Iraq, and quit wasting OUR tax money rebuilding their country, putting Bid Laden's head on a platter, finding the replacement for oil, etc. Having a nice house is something an individual has the right to earn. Health insurance SHOULD be more affordable. And yes, I would gladly live under the thumb of the government for a mil. Seriously, what does that even mean. I think it's so funny to hear comments like that. You think that can happen in America:lol: Talking about paranoid...
January 24, 200917 yr Oh No! Not Class Envy. Please! Class envy:eyeonyou: No, I just care more about the United States of America than I do about a man who is paid to generate ratings and spread propaganda. Rush, by saying he wants our leader to fail, obviously doesn't care. Because like I said, when the president fails, the country fails. (see GWB).

Believe me, many Obama supporters are not expecting much less than than what I described. Many of his supporters want (or should I say expect) Uncle Sam to take very good care of them.
January 24, 200917 yr Just because Obama succeeds at implementing his polices doesn't mean America succeeds, that’s the furthest thing from reality that I've ever read on here... How do you know that? You know Obama's policies are going to fail and America is too? Maybe you should run for president.

Many of his supporters want (or should I say expect) Uncle Sam to take very good care of them. I know it was sarcasm, I was being sarcastic too. Obviously, I am just a Rush hater....:walk:
January 24, 200917 yr Rush has a radio show with a huge audience. He gets paid a lot of money to be who he is and more. He is very smart. No one listens and he is back in baseball. He bashed the Clintons where sometimes I couldn't believe what I was hearing. He comes out and praises the new President.....he needs a job during our tough times. I see nothing wrong with President Obama mentioning Rush but wouldn't tell people to stop listening, just tell them why he is on the air.
January 24, 200917 yr Apparently, to Obama, Rush Limbaugh is not a person worthy of inclusion in his new inclusive American vision. All persons ar equal, but some are more equal than others. He spent his campaign telling everyone that because he had social contacts with Wright, Rezko, etc. that that did not mean that he bought into their politics, but here he presupposes that GOP leaders who listen to Rush buy into his. If you think about this clearly, it is ludicrous that the President of the United States is actually mentioning Rush Limbaugh during executive addresses to members of Congress. Absolutely my initial thought...and all subsequent thoughts. There's something I do not like about the POTUS singling out a radio talk show host. Limbaugh isn't the Republican leader...he doesn't set policy and there's no reason to think the Republicans in office only listen to what Limbaugh says. Something about this doesn't bode well for the future, IMO. It's ridiculous.
