True blue (and gold)
I really don't see this. You must live in a Obama hating town. The only people I have come across are the Obama supporters who are gung-ho behind him, and the people who voted Mccain, like myself, who want him to do well and support his journey as President of the United States. Obama has not had the kind of stuff thrown at his character that Bush did. You don't have to look any further than this forum to find the disrespect. OhYeaYouThink
Honestly, Obama has had his religion, his character, his name, and virtually every other thing about him assassinated for the last year to 2 years. You don't think any of the stuff you've read in the threads leading up to th election constituted personal attacks on Obama? I agree that all of those things have been discussed and hashed out, but none of it was to the disrespectful extent that Bush had to put up with. OhYeaYouThink
Honestly, have you read any of the pre-election threads? Yup, and I stand by what I said. Obama and ANY President should expect their past and personal lives to be hashed away at, but the disrespect Bush was shown was unbelievable. Obama has not been disrespected the way Bush was. Not yet anyways.

I'm not trying to be disrespectful to you, but I could not disagree more. I don't want to "call out" anyone, so I'll leave the research to you. There are hundreds of threads covering the discussion of the election in the months preceding the election. I invite you to read through some of them. OhYeaYouThink
Honestly I COULD, but I have far too much homework to look into it right now, and class at 9 AM, AND this is a thread to respect former President Bush, not rehash all the names and other disrespectful things he's been through. It's Obama's turn to deal with all of that. [Not that I want him to, just saying it's no longer a crusade against Bush].
Hoot Gibson
So, you find nothing untoward about the insistance that: He's Muslim He's not Christian Calling him a Communist/Marxist...not his policies...him Those are 3 examples. Honestly, out of the thousands of posts during the campaign, how many people claimed that Obama is a Muslim or asserted that he was not a Christian? A drop in the bucket compared to the Bush hatred that has appeared in this forum for years. I also do not recall many instances where Obama - not his policies - was labeled a Communist. However, it is undeniable that by his own admission, Obama associated with more socialists and marxists than most of us will ever meet during our lifetimes. The Bush detractors collective memory already seems to be fading fast and the man has not even had time to unpack his bags in Crawford.

coldweatherfan
Honestly, Obama has had his religion, his character, his name, and virtually every other thing about him assassinated for the last year to 2 years. You don't think any of the stuff you've read in the threads leading up to th election constituted personal attacks on Obama? I agree with you RM. That while I think these are all subjects that are open to debate, they should be truthful and about the subject and not the man. (sometimes it hard to seperate) There have been a lot of mistruths that have circulated on the internet that have found their way into many threads. The type of things I was refering to was more the mass media stuff. Every little thing that he does gets criticized on TV, and blown up as big as it can be. While with Obama it seemed to me they played things down. I personally think there is something to Ayers and Renko stuff, but the mass media refused to pursue it in any way. On the flip side, talk radio has bashed Obama since the beginnig. A few of them do a good job and talk about his policies and criticize that but too many of them attack him personally. But, not nearly as many people listen to talk radio as watch TV. But some of the stuff that really bothers me is like all the signs today that said "Arrest Bush" and the whole nah, nah, nah, nah goodbye stuff, and unfortunately all of that stuff ends up on TV for all the world to see. I wish I could have been there to say, "You won show some class and show some respect for the presidency."

Hoot Gibson
You are free to do your own research. It's there, and it's prevelant.I am not denying that there are isolated instances there but it is not nearly as prevalent as the Bush bashing that takes place here on an almost daily basis. Despite Bush's Harvard MBA, he has been portrayed as an idiot for eight years and I am sure that will be true for at least four more years. At that time, liberals will label the next Republican candidate an imbecile while touting their own candidate as one of the smartest politicians ever to run for office. The Democratic playbook never changes.
