January 1, 200917 yr Same here. I tore my acl and mcl my freshman year in college playing football and it still gives me problems to this day. Especially with the cold weather. I haven't had problems in about 5 years, but I just don't want to risk it. Had 3 knee surgeries on my right knee and finally get one of those rediculously expensive knee braces. Had it for about 2 years before I left it at the gym on accident, a friend of mine grabbed it for me, but unfortunately he passed away tragically in a car accident a couple of months later. Never saw the knee brace again. I can play without it, I'm just not that confident in my knee at this point, I'm fine until I start to get fatigued, and that's what worries me. at 24 I just really don't want to have another knee injury as they become harder and harder to completely recover from, on the other hand, playing football and basketball sure does put a smile on my face. Oh and as for the cold weather, I now generally hate it.

January 1, 200917 yr You old fogies! I won't dispute that, give me sunny and 70 any day of the year and you won't see me complain.
January 2, 200917 yr Author Since Feb. 2008 I've lost over 100 lbs. and now you start the contest. Well you can be the 2008 winner lol. But congrats on the weight loss, that's awesome.
January 2, 200917 yr Author Is this going to be an all year long contest? I was thinking 3 to 4 months tops.
January 2, 200917 yr If it's not too late I'd like to get in. I've been on hiatus for the most part for a few weeks and just now saw the thread.
January 2, 200917 yr A nice snack you can eat is jello with cool whip. It tastes pretty good and isn't bad for you. I was just thinking of some stuff to munch on but I shouldn't eat any of it really.
January 2, 200917 yr If it's not too late I'd like to get in. I've been on hiatus for the most part for a few weeks and just now saw the thread. It's not too late. I think MJ will put you on the list.
January 2, 200917 yr MJ----Just happened on this one, and need to join the party!! Hopefully it's not too late to sign on? Is there a regular weigh-in day? Not really worried about a prize, but the thought of compatriots in the battle is encouraging!! After the snacks today, I was afraid to weigh in.
January 2, 200917 yr I was thinking 3 to 4 months tops.I'd rather go all year, it would benefit all of us more.
January 2, 200917 yr Why not make one of the first milestones July 4? That's 7 months, another big day, and gives us all a realistic shot? Even though yesterday wasn't a day I thought I could "start" my changes, I found I did. For instance, I reduced the size of the portions I put on my plate. But, I did make my mashed potatoes with real butter and half and half. I also only ate one apple dumpling, with only about half the ice cream I normally would. Sad, though....I still have 9 apple dumplings to finish sometime. Edited January 2, 200917 yr by rockmom
January 2, 200917 yr I am going to walk everyday. I have decided that I am getting a pedometer to help keep track. I am the worst dieter and exerciser. :( FF just laughs at me b/c he said i won't do it. That's how predictable I am lol.
January 2, 200917 yr I'm in the process of putting a calender together too hold myself accountable for what I want to get out of this. I'm 6ft 219 lb right now. My goal the 1st month is too get in shape gradually to get in shape hardcore. I'm smart enough now to know my body and that I'll do more harm than good coming out of the gates trying to do it all! 1st month gradually get in pre shape. 2+3rd month bench program for strength and start building up on the teadmill. 4-7 month P90X. From there I am working on but leaning toward mountain biking or karate. I have 2 little ones and coach football on the side of my job so time is tough to join a class. I think realistically if I can lose around 2 1/2 lbs a month I will be in phenominal shape by next new year. I figure I am going to put on a few pounds the 1st three months of muscle and I'm good with that. The next half year will be cutting muscle + weight.
January 2, 200917 yr I'd like to join in. The first post said that the first report will be on Jan. 4th (Sun), so I hope you will still put me on the list for weight "loss" (although I am sure that I could win the weight "gain" category if I chose that route!!).
