For those trying to lose weight, cardio is probably the best route. Getting in the gym will turn your fat in to muscle but you'll likely gain weight with it if you're doing heavy weight.

I've personally been doing a full work out on the total gym everyday, doing around 250 crunches (5x50 knees to chest) on the ab tracker, while also throwing in 150 to each side to target my obliques and trim my waist down. I'm right around a 36 waist now.

For cardio I've either ran a few miles a day, went bicycling, or played a few hours of basketball with some buddies. Seems to be working so far.

I am not ready LOL. I just ate some Cheetos and really want some more junk. I will weigh in on the 4th and that's when I will start lol.

I definetly don't feel like doing anything today either, but I figure I'll do something around 3 and get a light work out in.

-4lbs since Christmas day! Woo! :dancingpa

Now is the time for us to forgive ourselves for our holiday feasting and start fresh on our plans. Hopefully, all of the leftovers, candy and other goodies have been consumed. We won't have to be tempted by that stuff anymore and can focus on our goals.

This is my all time favorite weight-loss saying:

"Nothing tastes as good as thin feels."

It's sooo true; and I tell myself that whenever I get tempted to eat something that's full of calories.

I think I might start playing racketball again for some cardio. Sure beats the heck out of running on a boring old tread mill. When it warms up I can get out and play some tennis.

Also means that the dog may be going for more walks and may have to start walking some golf courses instead of using the cart.

Walking the dog is great excercise for me! I absolutely ABHOR gyms, etc, and I can't run, so I had to find something. Before the dog, I used to try to get motivated to walk, but I never had any reason to resist the temptation to blow it off. Now, because I really get a kick out of how much he enjoys it, it isn't as hard to get motivated. Well....unless it's really cold. I'm fortunate. I get to incorporate stairs, hills and good scenery into our walk. The terrain around here is hilly. For instance, one park has tons of steep hills and walking trails. Another has steep hills, but there are stairs cut into them, so it helps with getting some additional benefits out of our walks.

This is exactly how I feel lol. The first week will be just eating better, and once I move back to school I will be able to work out more...doing nothing but cardio probably and playing ball.

I second this, I will go back to teaching on Monday so I weigh on Sunday and start Monday. It's so much easier sticking to a schedule when you are on schedule.

I've been eating cookies and gingerbread for breakfast every morning since Christmas and I don't even want to think about how much I've put on, but I feel different this time, I know I am way to old to be this large - I want to see more grandchildren.

I need a support system and I'm depending on BGP to be that system for me.:ylsuper:

That's the biggest thing for me. I need to get on a schedule and stick with it. Last time I tried to lose weight I actually did really well and was very determined. So I am hoping I can do that again.

I will make a new thread to post weights on Sunday...or you can PM me.

Since Feb. 2008 I've lost over 100 lbs. and now you start the contest.

Any chance you've got another 100 you want to shed?

I played some ball the other day for the first time in a few months and boy was that sad. Sit ups, and crunches had me still feeling good about myself a bit but man talk about a wake up call. I'd feel comfortable fighting someone 70 lbs bigger than me, but would likely get my but kicked playing tag with a bunch of 5'th graders.

Thinking it's time to get another knee brace and hit the court more frequently.

Same here. I tore my acl and mcl my freshman year in college playing football and it still gives me problems to this day. Especially with the cold weather.
