Ryle has a lot of players returning on offense (QB, RB, WR, OL), but loses a ton on defense (only 3 returning starters). Some JV guys from this year will really need to step up fast on the defensive side next season.

They are definately going to be tested early. From what I hear we're playing a VERY tough schedule. With that said, the coaches will no doubt have the men prepared for the post season.

District games and the post season is what counts.

I agree! As a Boyle fan, I realize that we lost about 4 senior recievers. Jordan Aumiller can be replaced by Lamar Dawson(tight end position). We all knows this kids potential. But what wide outs do we got coming back next year. Btw, you forgot to mention second team all-state DL Grant Aumiller is coming back. Man, I cannot wait for 2009. Praying for a big year in Boyle County! :thumb:

I saw Coach Mason the other night at the basketball game and I would like to think they will be scouring the hallways for replacement receivers. I also talked to a returning player and everyone seems to agree that we have to get some outside receivers. We have them at the school, we just need them to play. Kids like Ben Carmen and Logan Tritapoe who play basketball and not football would help the team tremendously. I believe our coaches will take care of the situation and have us ready to go.

I know the season just ended yesterday and some younger kids havent had the chance to be evaluated yet, but what does your teams have comming back in the '09 season? I'm curious to hear how many starters and key players will be returning.. I'll start things off..

Bell County returns 7 starters on defense, (4 who will be seniors). Their is no real leader of this defense, these kids all just play so well and mesh together with each other. The biggest challenge will be to replace Matt Simpson at linebacker, and Tyler Harbin on the D-line. John Dudley Hilton returns after a strong soph. season, along with Keith Lowe and Matt Raines who were very big for the Bobcats all season long. Also return 4 players who will most likely move into the starting line-up that had a large ammount of playing time throughout the year will be returning as just juniors and sophmores.

On offense the biggest challenge will be to replace Zachery at QB and Merrick as kicker. Bell returns 6 on offense, keeping most of the O-line in tact, and returns Carton as a junior next year who had a terrific game at Louisville, looking like he will be the feature back next year. Also, the Bobcats are gonna have to find a replacement for the big Olineman and all-state team pick Jacob King. With the return of Matt Raines at wideout and the talented group of young backs, it should be another strong season for the Bobcats in '09.

Hopefully, we will show you what we have coming back next year, 1st week of December, Boyle County, Kentucky. :fight::thumb:

Owensboro returns 15 starter from this year I think may be 14 but for the most part a lot of experience. Replacing Yorel Shemwell will be the key for the Devils he was a special player.

I see the usual suspects in Region 1 of 5A again next year OHS, BG, Christian Co., Hoptown to start and we will see from there. The JH faithful say they are going to be loaded again for the 3rd year in a row. So we will wait and see who comes out of the west to play Highlands again next year.

Mayfield should be back as a major player in Class A next season as most of the offensive attack comes back led by QB Luke Guhy who threw for over 2,000 yards as a sophomore and will feature 1,000 yard runner Tyrese Murrell. Should have an outstanding receiving corps led by Xavier Shelton and Javarius Richardson along with some promising newcomers to the Cardinal Varsity squad next season. And the offensive and defensive sides on the line look to be very promising anchored by 6'4" 275 pound senior lineman Jantzen Jones. The next two years are years that the coaching staff has been pointing to getting the Cards back in serious title contention. Should be some great games with Crittenden County for the district title next season.

I heard alot about this Ben Carmen kid. He hasn't played since middle school but they swear up and down that this kid would make a HUGE impact if he played. The coaches definitely need to wonder around the hallways to find these kids. For the record, I expect a GREAT running game year with our top two returning backs(Rees Macshara and Chris Cook). :ylsuper:

PurplePride92, can you name at least two recievers that will more than likely start next year?

With Dawson, Cook, Ferrell, and the rest of Sophomores that knocked off Trinity's freshman team last year, to go along with our leading rusher McShara, Grant Aumiller (All State Linemen), Boone Goldsmith at Quarterback, And a very talented undefeated Freshman class this year. We will be alright!

As Brad Posted earlier Bell will return many talented players. Jr. class is very good as well as the Soph. They will be loaded with 3 year starters next year. 3 starters back on the O-line, TE, and WR return as well with 1 of the HB's Carton. On defense they will return 3 of the D-line, both DE's, 1 LB and 2 CB's.

CCH: Lots of question marks starting with the coaching staff.

I feel pretty good about what Breathitt County returns. The team loses 10 seniors...4 starters from the offense and 6 from the defense. They had a lot of two-way players, but Holcomb done a pretty good job of rotating guys in and out and trying to keep them fresh. So, some of the returning players will have a lot of experience despite not starting.

In addition, they'll get a couple of guys back from injury that could be very good players. Jarrod Wolfe, a 6-1, 240 lb. sophomore (will be a junior in '09) who was slated to start on the defensive line this year tore an ACL before the season started. He's the strongest player on the team and has the potential to be a very good lineman on both sides. And, he'll add some size and strength that Breathitt could really use. Nick Noble, a talented athlete who plays WR and DB will return from a broken leg for his senior season.

After that, we get back...

QB/FS - Jade Haddix - 1420 yards passing (17 TD), 625 yards rushing (10 TD)...26 solo tackles, 22 assists, 3 FR

RB/SS - Channing Fugate - 3405 yards from scrimmage (11.1 yards per touch), 38 TD...also lead team with 69 solo tackles (33 assists), 3 FR, 1 Int

RB/CB - Cody Pritchard - 789 yards rushing, 6 TD

WR/DB - Josh Fletcher - 375 yards receiving (7 TD)

WR/DB - Robbie Huff - 154 yards receiving (3 TD)

LB/TE - Dakota Ritchie - 37 solo tackes (32 assists), 2 Int, 2 FR (1 TD)

WR/CB - Zack Epperson - 58 yards and a TD in the title game

OL/DL - Jeremy Moore, Jay McKnight, Darrell Deaton, Jesse Roberts

The biggest loss is on the offensive line. Scott Bailey and Juan Little were key contributors on both sides and won't be easy to replace, but they've got two returning starters and a couple more guys with experience. I think they'll be alright there. I'm very confident in the skill spots on offense. I feel good about the back seven on defense as well, despite a few key losses (Ryan Allen and Dusty Allen, in particular, have been very good players for several years).

Overall, I like our chances to improve. The losses are nothing unexpected for a school like Breathitt on a typical season, but the returning talent is very good, lead by Channing Fugate and Jade Haddix. If they put the work in, this team should be the odds on favorite to represent the eastern half of the state in Bowling Green next December. But, that's far from a sure thing with traditional powers like Belfry and Russell always lurking, along with some others.

Dixie only loses 3 starters in Brock (RB/WR), Godsey (DE/FB), and Vreeland (DB/WR). Brock will be the biggest loss due to his special teams contributions. Wilson will be back at the qb spot. It took him a while this past season to get comfortable, but once he did, he played solidly. There shouldn't be any slow starts from him next year, or the team as a whole with the kids they have back. They will need some guys to step up at the receiver spot. They do have a solid freshman class, which will provide some good depth along with some competition at a few starting spots next year. I would assume Pike would have a shot at starting at WR next year. Even though he played qb at the freshman level, there's no need to have his athleticism on the bench, and his size will give Wilson another good sized target.

2009 NKY 5A:

1. HHS

2. Dixie

3. CCH

Fort Campbell only has ten Seniors on the team and some of them were not starters. Some of those Seniors were big-time players like First Team All-State LB Josh Carter, but FC seems to run an assembly line at building stud Linebackers; somebody will step up.

I expect the Falcons to be favorites to repeat in 2A.

I don't see anyone coming w/in 2 TDs of them in 2A if they bring their A game.
