What Do You Have Coming Back in '09..?

Featured Replies

From what I have seen, if not next year it will not happen for a long time. The senior class & junior class next year are solid, but, the younger classes are questionable.

It is what it is. Solid would get you a state championship ten years ago. In this decade, solid is not good enough. In order for St.X to win a championship they need to play the best athletes both ways. As we all know, that won't happen because thats not the St.X way. Not griping, just stating my personal opinion.

That sophmore class you speak of only lost one game since they came over to the high school. They lost to East Jessamine as freshman,I was at that game and it's really hard to officate a game with two refs. IMO you will also see the line size increase. This sophomore group should average well over 200, which may be small compared to some, but should be considered larger than normal for Boyle. French will fill the holes no problem.:thumb:

Great to hear Benz! :thumb:

I expect Boyle to be great next year! :D

I work with Ben's dad and he says Ben just doesn't much care for football, I think he actually considered quitting basketball a couple of years ago, but hung in there and began seeing results from all his hard work. Let's hope the staff at BC will maybe convince him to suit up, I'll see what I can do about letting his dad know how much we need him. I assume Ben will be a senior next year. I see his name in the newspaper alot concerning cross country, but I guess I never noticed what grade is in.

Let him know that he's being talked about in the best way possible.

A great kid, us Boyle fans would love to see him on the field. :thumb:

On offense Corbin will lose 6 starters - Freeman, Campbell, Sewell, French, Hayden and Taylor. But returning is Watkins, Fritz, Matthew Taylor, Manns and 3 of the starting offensive linemen. We will be looking for a QB - Freshman Travis Smith should be recovered from a knee injury and figures to be a BIG time player before he leaves Corbin, if he plays. Travis excels at all sports but I feel that football is his future. Ben House and others should step in at WR and do fine.

On defense gone are tackles Taylor and Creech, DE French, LB Campbell, DB's Sewell and Crawford.

If I had to guess, I would go with the starting wr's from the jv team by default because they were the ones that came into the games when the 1st string would get a break during blowouts. I know Jared Harrington is one, and I expect him to get time at db next year also. I think Brian Ferrell may have been the other receiver. I also heard from a pretty reliable source that Dre Cox is going to play football next year. If he comes back that will add to our depth at running back or he may be a receiver. Dre was actually the starting running back to start the season in 2007 in the Bowling Green game. He quit the following week and then Rees took over as the starter.

I think Ben Carmen would make a huge impact because from what I hear he is the most athletic kid at the high school right now. Even the basketball coach said that Ben should be playing football. He has a muscular build and is fast from what I have been told. He has a motor that won't quit on the basketball court and is one of the best defenders on the basketball court. There is definitely a spot for him somewhere for him to make an impact at. I think he runs cross country and that may interfere with him playing football.

Dre Cox is amazingly fast. I'd love for this kid to get straight to football and make it strictly business because I believe in the kid. He could make a huge impact just as much as Ben Carmen. "IF" the Boyle County coaches can get these kids to play that would be just awesome. If not, we still got alot of talent coming back.:ylsuper:

How many total starters does Boyle return? I know they have a few but not many.

Bell returns 15 players that started during the 08 championship game!!!!!

According to Boyle's roster, they should have 23 seniors for the 09 season. out of that number, i'm not sure exactly how many started this past season. Some of our better impact players off the top of my head are:

Mcshara-RB/DEF/DB Senior

Dawson-TE/DEF/LB Junior

G. Aumiller-DEF/DL Senior

Goldsmith-QB/DEF Senior

Chris Cook-RB/DEF/DB Junior

Megilligan-DEF/DB, Junior

Steven Campbell-TE/DEF/LB Senior

Nick Williams-WR/DEF/DB Senior

I'm sure there are others, but I do remember those guys making a great contribution this past year. Keep an eye out for Jesse Mattingly to help out Mcshara this season also, he's been pretty impressive coming up through the Rebel program.

15 that started, and several who were only sophomores that made a HUGE impact on the big stage, Josh Brown and Dominic Carton both look like they're going to be huge for the Bobcats in the future, plus with young Davenport returning from injury(Cory) and in my mind reclaiming the other spot at corner, I feel like Cody Davenport can be an awesome receiver for us if the passing attack continues, he stepped it up big in the playoffs, made some very tough catches and didnt drop the necessary ones. Very good looking and bright future for the young Bobcat squad next year, only 8 seniors I can think of off the top of my head.:ylsuper:

Besides having 20 juniors back Monroe Co. also has a strong soph class led by Tanner Kendall. Look fo Monroe to be a factor come playoff time next year.

By looking at the Boyle roster it appears that they return 3 or 4 starters on offense and 4 on defense (including the younger Hester which started 1 game). Is that right Rebel fans????

Conner is looking at another good year, returning Nick West#10, Austin Pugh#22, Anthony Boden#34, Mike Gill#6, Ryan Delph#14 etc on offense. On defense they still have Eric Champ#2, Huston Dockery#41, Nate Angel#47,Tom Hennessey#60, etc. They will be a strong team to play this year, I look forward to watching.

Boyle will reload...The bigger element is they have Coach French returning and IMO that is all that matters...He is alot like Coach Smith He knows how to win with any players he has...:thumb:

Bryan Ferrell has to be added to that list at LB and I could have sworn that I saw him at receiver during some jv games. Jesse is a good running back, but it will be Chris Cook and Devin Cox helping out Macshara before Jesse gets a chance. Jesse should have a chance to help out on defense. I have also heard that Steven Talbott will have an opportunity to earn playing time next year.

That sounds right. I would love to host you guys with our new cast of characters.

Since Watusi or EKU haven't responded. I will go.

Several others who played significant minutes on both sides of the football.

Belfry will need to find a power back and a couple lineman. Also need a Soph QB to step up bigtime in order to contend on the level they have been...
