Northern KY is everyone chasing Highlands.

 

Louisville is everyone chasing X and T.

 

No difference.

Here is another way to maybe look at this. Let's rank the top 10 teams in N. Ky. and Louisville only. Here is my list:

 

1. Trinity

2. St. X

3. Highlands

4. Eastern

5. Newport Central Catholic (beat 4 6A schools including SK and also beat Beechwood)

6. Dupont Manual

7. Central

8. Beechwood

9. Simon Kenton

10.Boone Co.

 

So I have 5 teams from each area. However, in researching this, I would say Louisville has more good teams than N. Ky. in the 6A class. I could easily have put Ballard, Fern Creek, Male and Doss in the list ahead of Boone and maybe even SK. So because of numbers from 6A my opinion is Louisville is a little better than N. Ky. overall...but it is close. Plus N. Ky. was down a little this year with perennial top performing and multiple time state champ Covington Catholic struggling and Dixie Heights in a young rebuilding season. So I will give it to Louisville this year.

Did you all even bother to read my post? I am actually trying to foster an academic discussion on this matter and you simply dismiss it out of hand. While I put qualifiers in there I did actually address the issue at hand as opposed giving a cop-out saying "why bother, people will just be homers anyway."

 

I would at least like an attempt at a riposte.

Don't understand how you could put Male in front of SK when Sk just beat them by two touchdowns?

 

Also the only area Louisville is better than NKY is at the 6A level. The rest of the L'ville schools seem to get dominated by nky opponents at the 1A through 5A level. You can't base ALL of it on one class. And if our top two 1A and 2A schools up here are up to par with your 6A schools (outside of T and X), well that tells you something right there...

I am going by what I saw. Ballard may have lost to Eastern in the regular season but they were really good by season's end which is why I placed them in another tier. Male has also dropped off dramatically over the last two years and I don't see them as comparable to the teams I placed ahead of them.

 

I understand that this is your opinion and very subjective. My point is this Eastern beat Ballard in week 9. Eastern 11 wins, Male 9 wins, and Ballard finished 6-6. To say that they were really good at seasons end is a mystery to me wk11 beat Moore, wk12 beat Henderson, wk 13 lost Trinity

Eastern 2 playoff wins and then a loss to Trinity, Male 3 playoff wins then a loss to Simon Kenton. How did Ballard finish up better than the other two?

Outside of Trinity, St. X and every now and then Male, no one in my neck of the woods(central ky/eastern ky) is scared of anyone else from Louisville, not even this year's version of Central(Boyle County beat Central and Fairdale regularly in the playoffs before we went to 6 classes). We are all at least worried about ANY team from NKY because they appear to play the best football as a whole. I vote for NKY.

That list is similar to mine except for Ballard and PRP on the tail end and Central getting no respect at all. No way Ballard or PRP can be in the top ten with .500 records, especially PRP. I think Massey gives them points for playing 3 games each against T and X. Look how high Covington Catholic is in Massey due to their schedule, perhaps the toughest in the entire state of KY this year. There definitely appears to be credit in the ranking for playing a top schedule. But getting beaten and sometimes crushed by great teams doesn't make you a good team. Anyone can go play a top team and lose by 50 points. Beating good teams makes you a good team. PRP and Ballard didn't win enough to get into the top 10 and neither did CovCath.

Who has the most state championships NKY or Louisville? I would say that would show where the better football is.

What has dissapointed me this past season is the extreme drop off of Lexington schools. Tates Creek and Dunbar have wonderful facilities and a large enough enrollment to compete but they don't. Now, none of the Lexington Schools will schedule a regular season game with Trinity. They've decided to take their ball and go home. What's up with that?

This is like who came first, the chicken or the egg....NKY definately has the advantage if you take quality amongst all 6 classes....but I tend to lean towards who is better plain and simple....we have Trinity, X, Male, Central, and some others scattered that are good.....generally us, and X are better than everyone else in the state, so I would say Louisville has the BEST football.

Not necessarily. Who has the most state championships has a lot to do with how many classes are represented by each area. Louisville is dominated by 6A schools with a few smaller classes sprinkled in. I thought the question was relating to if both areas created an allstar team, who would win? Is that not the question?:confused:
