November 8, 200817 yr There certain movies that I could watch over and over and never get tired of them, and Shawshank Redemption is one of those. Others are Cool Hand Luke, Die Hard, Fargo, Major League, Deliverence, Caddy Shack, Fletch, Lampoon's Vacation, Animal House, Fast Times At Ridgemont High, Blazing Saddles, In The Heat Of The Night, and Dr. Strangelove, to name a few.
November 9, 200817 yr Morgan Freeman hasn't made many bad movies, if any. Shawshank is a classic! :thumb:
November 9, 200817 yr Great Movie...I must say GA I envy you for that being the first time you have seen it...:thumb: I am with you A.A. One of those movies that.....if cruising the stations and finding it at ANY point in the movie......I will watch no matter what!
November 9, 200817 yr Anyone ever seen this movie? Me and my roommate got it from Netflix last night and watched it. It really has become of my favorite movies after I watched it. Just a GREAT movie. I saw that and had to laugh. It seems like this is one of those movies that is on nearly every week on some channel. I'm suprised you haven't seen it beofre. It's also one of those movies that you will sit down and watch on TV - again - almost every time it's on. It's even one of those movies you'll watch even if you have the DVD sitting up on the shelf. Commercials and all!

November 9, 200817 yr One of my top-5 movies ever! It is certainly one of those movies that when you see it is on you go to the channel and watch it regardless of where it is at in the movie. So many wonderful performances in this movie! Morgan Freeman is one of the BEST actors in the word, he hit a grand slam in this movie!

November 10, 200817 yr I have a friend who just watched this for the first time the other night as well. One of the great movies as everyone has already said, if you have the special edition 2 disc DVD, listen to the commentary by Frank Darabont. He goes into great detail about all the odds and ends that went into filming and one of the better DVD commentary tracks you will ever hear. The Mansfield Prison in Ohio is where some interiors and all exteriors were shot. Mansfield is an abandoned, supposedly haunted prison. If you check out this website, you can look up information on how to get a tour of the prison and if you so desire, spend the night in the prison looking around. http://www.mrps.org/ The main cell block where Andy's cell is, that was all a set. I couldn't believe that when I heard it. But the warden's office and a few other locations where shot on location at the prison.
