The Shawshank Redemption

Featured Replies

The book was great, it was really a short story. It was included with 3 other storys in the book "Different Seasons" by King.

In the book it is called "Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption"

Also included in this 4 part book was "Apt Pupil" and "The Body" which later became the movie Stand By Me.

King is my favorite writer. The man is just brilliant.

Great, great movie. I'm generally not a big Tim Robbins fan but as Andy he was classic

Robbins best work indeed. But who really put Shawshank over the top of course was the man the myth the legend, Morgan Freeman. :thumb: :D

Classic!!

Its always been my favorite movie. I dont like to watch it too much because I dont want it to become routine, so to speak. Best movie ever.

Love that quote!

My all time favorite movie.:thumb:

One of my favorites, can quote the movie almost word for work. I'd hate to count the times I have sit down and watched the movie. Everytime it comes on TV I watch it and sit through the commercials and I have it on DVD.

'Different Seasons' is a great read all the way around. Apt Pupil is one of the most psychologically disturbing things I've ever read, I don't think I'd want to see the movie just because it's probably does no justice whatsoever to the novellette. The last part, 'Breathing Method' was also very good, which I find myself surprised by because it's not exactly the kind of story that would make a good movie, but there's just something about it that gives me chills.

As far as Shawshank goes, you won't see me disagreeing with anyone here. Great read and great movie.

Ive only seen it about a million times. Havent watched it in a while though but I used to watch it all the time when it was on tv.

One of the best & one of my favorite movies of all time! I love it!

"Captain Hadley: What is your malfunction, you fat barrel of monkey spunk?"

___

"Andy Dufresne: Yeah. The funny thing is - on the outside, I was an honest man, straight as an arrow. I had to come to prison to be a crook."

___

Fat Guy: You don't understand! I'm not supposed to be here!

Inmates: Me neither! They run this place like a freaking prison!

___

Fat Guy: I don't belong here! I want to go home! I want my mother!

Another Prisoner: I had your mother, she wasn't that great!

___

Fat Guy: You don't understand, I'm not supposed to be here!

Captain Hadley: I'm not gonna to count to three. I'm not even gonna count to one. You will shut the HECK up or I'll sing you a lullaby!
