Whats even more amazing about JC is that he's able to put up those numbers with about half the carries and half the amount of time played. He averaged 14 carries a game last year while Buckler and the kid from Boone average around 30, imagine if he got even 20 a game

With the same amount of carries he would have posted 3200 yards, that is very impressive.

It's a shame that Conner has been injured for the first part of this season. We may disagree on who's the best, but fact is NKY has some fine RB's. For those from Ft Thomas, what type of numbers would Conner have if he had played some this season?

Who knows??? Highlands has a running clock almost every game. If Josh wasn't hurt he would probably only be playing half the game any way..

And of course that would never happen at Highlands. They have never and probably never will put all of their eggs in one basket. Their talent at QB suggests a more balanced attack between running and passing. I dont even know who the last HHS running back was to ever rush for over 2000 yds in one season. Did Frisk do it?

I don't know who the last one was but I'm reasonably sure Josh would have had done that this year had he not been hurt
See my post. Bellevue is an ABOVE AVERAGE 1A school playing against BELOW AVERAGE 1A schools which is the reason Buckler is putting up the kinds of numbers he is. Many times Bellevue is going to have bigger players than the opposition which is the reason they run so much. Why pass when you don't have to. Paris, Bracken Co, Dayton, and Ludlow are horrible teams. (No disrespect to any of them, but its true.)

Against better competition though Buckler has been shut down. See NCC. (33 yds on 17 carries) If Buckler were playing at a school like Highlands, Boone, NCC, SK, or Beechwood I can almost guarantee he wouldn't see the time he's seeing now at Bellevue and wouldn't start at any of those schools over the above mentioned backs.

He would also have a tough time consistently carrying the ball 20+ times against the same competition that those backs see night in and night out. Let's face it, the teams in 5A and 6A are much bigger than the ones Bellevue is seeing and much more athletic. Many teams have 5 or more players fast or faster than Buckler.

Buckler is a good back for the competition he's playing and fits perfectly in the Bellevue system but IMO is no where near on the level of Teipel, Simpson, Quainoo, or Conner. Those kids would put up monster numbers playing at Bellevue and probably on less carries than Buckler.

Whoa buddy you need to take a BIG step back. Ludlow and Dayton are not terrible teams. In fact they both gave Bellevue all they could handle this year. I know I was at the Ludlow game, and that game very well could have went the other way, if one or two plays went the other. If they were terrible as you say, then you must think the same about Bellevue. The fact is none of those three teams are terrible. Yeah if you compare the WHOLE "TEAMS" to the likes of Beechwood, NCC, Highlands, Boone Co, etc. yeah then they are terrible. However that is not a good comparison at all. That is why there are divisions with 1A etc. The fact is Ludlow, Bellevue, Dayton all if were in another district would succeed very much so and go far in the playoffs in 1A. However since they all play in same district as Beechwood, then we never see that. I know this is not on topic of the thread however your little statment there was uncalled for and well JUST NOT TRUE. Those teams are not terrible at all, especially when compared to other 1A teams across the state...

Now to go on to this topic. I hate when people assume that a certain player is better than another one just because they play at a better school. In this case yeah maybe those guys are better than the Bellevue runningback. However they really might not be, we don't know for sure. Alot of you all say well look at how he did against NCC, etc. However that is not a fair comparison because he doesn't have the same line as some of these other guys would have going against NCC. The only way to truly to see who is better would be to have them switch teams. See how he would do behind the line of Highlands against teams, and how those runningbacks would do against these teams behind Bellevue's line. And I guarntee you this, it wouldn't be as easy as you think. That would be a big difference going from running behind Highlands line, to Bellevues.

So there is really no way to know for sure, and I just hate it when people try to act like well this guy is at a better school so he must be better. I know I had this argument back two years ago, about a runningback at Ludlow in Vincent Sullivan. I said he was the best running back in the district up here in NKY, and people from NCC kept saying their guy was and trying to use how he did against big schools. There have been many people from these small schools that you say "suck" that have been better than some of the guys on better teams, however people just assume that they aren't as good since they dont play on a top team. Which is just wrong IMO. I not trying to say he is better than some of the backs listed here. However I am just tired of seeing this same stuff by people.

Yes Frisk was the last Highlands back to rush for 2000 yards, Kramer and Conner have been the closest since then

Well with the new addition to the poll they should clear the list to get the actual vote totals.

What schools is Conner getting looks from?

If you are putting Buckler on the list I would think you would have to put Mark Kelly on there and as much as Kues runs the ball maybe him too, even though he is a QB Newcath uses him as a second running back, at least until he injured his shoulder.

Not looking for close seconds, there are a dozen Highlands greats that have done that over the yrs. I wonder though, is Frisk the only running back ever to reach 2000 at HHS? My point is Highlands is always been too balanced of an offense for Dale to be an only running game and not throw the ball equally. Unless of course you have a direct snap rb/Qb like last yr. My guess is JC would not have eclipsed the 2000 yd mark yr basing it on how much the Birds throw it and how many blowouts they have earned. Still, I believe JC would have put up same numbers as last yr and again there would not be a poll going on.

I would say that Conner and Crawford from HHS, with a close runner up in Head, followed by Alford, then True from the Frosh team.

Homer...:lol::lol::lol:

Since you want to include a QB or 2 there is one that everyone has overlooked and on any other team would probably be a #1 RB and he is currently 10th or so in 1A for rushing yards and TDs Trimble County's #5 Larry Sullivan. And what about Frankforts #9 Quan Weaver I think is his name, oh and 1 more please Tyrone Cooper of Eminence #5 in 1A 142 yrds per game come on, these teams have to play your NKY teams in the playoffs, so I think they deserve consderation. Just a thought.

Maybe Shaun Alexander?

I believe we are talking best RB in NKY. Trimble Co, Frankfort, and Eminence aren't NKY schools.
