No doubt he'd be successful but simply because Highlands has great kids to block for him. But what separated JC, Teipel, SImpson, and Quainoo from Buckler is their athletic ability to get away from defenders after the 3 yards and a cloud of dust. I just really don't think Buckler is explosive as the above backs. JC has good blocking, but let's face it...that kid is strong as an ox and much of the time just needs a decent block as he has the explosiveness to get past arm tackles and make a move past the secondary to be off to the races. Same goes for Teipel, SImpson, and Quainoo.

I will agree with you on the ability to shake off tacklers but I did notice Buckler has excellent acceleration once he hits the hole and his explosiveness is there. He may not have the strength to shake tacklers though like the aforementioned backs. :thumb:

Its all good, they are all somewhat different backs as well.

JC is more of a deceptively fast strong RB who can run you over.

Simpson is more of a horse who can get to the boundary with lightning fast speed and he is huge.

Teipel is in the same mold as Simpson.

Buckler is small and fast but he runs as if he is a workhorse. He has a ton of carries and takes some shots.

Qainoo I have not seen but I am sure he is pure athleticism and speed at its best.

Dead on with all of them. :thumb:

Ive always thought is was a "Q".

Watch out, they added Josh Conner's name to the poll. This ought to get interesting!!!!!:ylsuper:

It's a shame that Conner has been injured for the first part of this season. We may disagree on who's the best, but fact is NKY has some fine RB's. For those from Ft Thomas, what type of numbers would Conner have if he had played some this season?

The type of numbers that would have suggested no need for this poll or debate. All other running backs listed are fine athletes but how could anyone put these guys in Josh's league. Josh's numbers this year would have put him in the Big Poll. That Big Poll is Mr. Football and I dont see any of the names listed in this poll on the Mr. KY ballot. I know its hard to say what ifs but lets be realistic here folks, JC proved himself as both a Soph and JR and I suspect barring the injury he would not have disappointed NKY this yr.

Whats even more amazing about JC is that he's able to put up those numbers with about half the carries and half the amount of time played. He averaged 14 carries a game last year while Buckler and the kid from Boone average around 30, imagine if he got even 20 a game

Fair enough, Conner is a very good RB, 1700 yds and 28 Tds in '07 is very impressive. If I were a coach, I wouldn't complain about any of the backs who've been mentioned. This is a fine crop of NKY RB's. What grade is Buckler?

Yeah no kidding, it's like I have said before that if Justin Frisk would of played more than 45 out of 60 quarters his senior year, Mr. Football would of been his. But again he played for a very very good team that year that won state and would pull their starters by halftime. So he was penalized for playing for a great team.

As stated earlier, this wouldn't even be a poll if Josh wouldn't have gotten hurt. He certainly proved himself as a soph. & jr.His numbers this year would have crazy.
