Was Ballard missing a few key players?

Why does St. X and Trinity even play a KY schedule? Play the Indy/Ohio catholic powerhouses, mix in a couple National teams and call it a season.

I think Ballard had a couple of DB's that were out, but even with them, this wouldn't have been close to a game.

 

Titletown, the way the brackets are this year, X and T cannot meet in the finals, which is a shame.

I would love to play more of those guys too, but you have to play in state games if you want to play for a state championship.

 

This same Ballard team (not same players) should have won this game last season, so it can be done. ST X lost most of last years team as well.

A very good start for the Tigers. Jeremiah Neal ran very well in place of Deuce Finch and ran for 2 touchdowns. D J Hall ran a punt back for a TD in place of Chase Carraro. Devontae Beach looked solid in place of Craig Brutscher at MLB-going both ways. Matt Brutscher goes 8 for 9 in passing and the Tigers put 480 yards in offense with a running clock the entire second half. Buehner explodes on a QB option keeper to score from 14 yards out. Coach even put in "3rd string" TB Deuce Finch in the second half ( who didn't play in the first half) to get some carries and he scores.

In all 7 different St X players score TDs with John Taylor getting a safety on Ballard RB Jamar Kirksey.

Hip injury to Wyatt Gray allowed Tyler Riggs-soccer player to kick a few into the end zone. Gray on crutches at end so the Tiger faithful need Riggs to kick and Buehner to punt for awhile.

 

Ballard used the "Memphis" method of play calling. No huddle- go to the line and set formation, look over to the sideline , coach calls play, 5 skill players look down at wristband and then they run play. Ballard has size and speed and should win a lot of games this year but their defensive backs hurt them early as Tigers struck for 3 30 yard passing TDS ( Goodwin, Goodwin, and Sweeney) in the first quarter and the rout was on.

I hope the Ballard admin is happy that they let go of coach Cattlet.

How did Gray get hurt, a hit or his kicking motion? Spears didn't see it happen, they just saw him on the sidelines. I hate to see that happen cause he looks to have a great future kicking the ball. Sounds like his replacement does too!

 

They said Riggs is a soccer player. Does he kick soccer style, or use a normal kicking motion?

The balanced depth of this 2008 Tiger T-E-A-M is an amazing thing to behold! Players keep rotating in and out on offense, defense, and special teams like a crowd coming through a revolving door.....and they never miss a beat. LEAVE NO DOUBT! :ylsuper: :scared: :ylsuper:

Yes and no. The only games they have to play are district games, which for St. Xavier is Butler, Manual and PRP. For Trinity its Ballard, Eastern and Seneca. They obviously play each other so that's a fourth game. They could both conceivably play up to six opponents from Indiana/Ohio/Tennessee, etc.
