Would you please expound on what litiny of bad habits mean...sounds like bashing of the previous Coach, and trust me Coach Catlett would never do that to any outgoing staff...one of the reasons Mark is no longer there is his being very naive...but don't talk about changing the culture of a program that had one losing season in the past 14 and it wasn't during Catlett's run...granted he didn't win every game...and lost some that he probably should have won...hasn't any coach who has been around a while???...but he worked his rear end off for Ballard High School and deserved a better fate...11 seasons...all winning ones...and forced out...something not right in High School Athletics when that happens...all coaches whould beware...it can happen to you!!!

Coach J Could you expound on the litany of bad habits that must be replaced...sounds as if you are pounding the previous staff, as if things were in turmoil...would you be so kind as to explain that, because Coach Catlett would never never pound any Coach and/or staff going out...one of the reasons he is out is his naiveteness.

I'm not a mod, but it seems like you are taking something personally here. You might want to take it to PMs if you have an issue with CoachJ.

That's a lot for this early in the year. Five is about all that play normally, do you think there will be more, or are these the chosen few?

Hey Park, thanks for the reply to my questions above! I didn't get a chance to go Friday night.

Daylen Hall starts on all special teams, rotates in at all four positions in the secondary 1st string. Beach played alot at linebacker making some pretty good plays for a sophomore. Hayden and Ryan Loehnert should see pretty substantial time this season.

PepRock...nothing personal at all...I think Coach J is a good coach...so is Catlett...I just asked for an explanation as to what he is referring to when he says litany of bad habits.

Not a slight to the previous COACHING staff at all. Trust me, I know first hand how solid a football coach Mark Catlett is. The fact that he rarely had a full staff though meant there were rarely or ever ENOUGH coaches on the Ballard sideline to catch a lot of things.

The "bad-habits" I'm referring to have more to do with things that can't happen in the particular Offensive and Defensive systems we're running THIS YEAR. They're not so much "overall football fundamental" things. In that respect, Coach Catlett has always been one of the best in the state.

It's just that there are certain things WE expect in what we're doing that are new to these kids and that we've begged for them to make "rote-memory." Some only get better with time and patience (like Zone blocking), others had to do with us expecting more out of them than they were able to do (like what we were trying to get them to remember as far as checks and automatics on defense), and still others have to do with full-speed-effort-to-the-whistle thing that can only be cured once they see on film how to do it like a team like X does it.

I honestly can't see a semi-final match up not happening because there is just not much competition in 6A football this season.

That's 13 weeks away. X could be down to their 4th string quarterback by then. (See Manual 2 years ago) The X men would be honored to be on the same field as the Mighty Rocks.....

BTW, who would be the home team? Would either team ever want to host at home? If 15K was the expected crowd, could they squeeze the attendance to meet the fire marshall guidelines? How about a big screen on the baseball field since that's where the teenagers would hang out? Temporary stands in the end zones?

I am sure Glaser could find a pretty good 4th string qb.;)

But when you get to the 4th string, X would rely on the run or pass in the flats. I don't think X will have to worry to much. I'm sure Bruscher and Buehner will get them to the state final.

So you're picking X over T in the playoffs?

Who knows? Maybe Roc4ever is implying that Trinity won't advance to the semifinal game to oppose this year's team of destiny.

I believe that our region hosts this season, though not sure. That said, I was told that The Pizza Box has been reserved in case these two meet. $10,000 to rent, split the gate, and U of L gets the concessions, not too bad.

Is it just me, or do I find this refreshing that CoachJ is giving us an "open-door" policy to the happenings of his program. I like it. Some people prefer that their coach keep things in house, but I like that questions are being answered, ala Brian Kelly at UC.

Mexitucky,

I could not agree more. My son plays for St X and I am very impressed with CoachJ and his willingness to discuss the game and what he has planned for the future. Count me as a guy cheering hard for the Bruins from here on out.
