McCain: It can be “tough” to be proud of USA

It's fear-mongering if you use a word that historically has a negative connotation to it - one that many who are less educated do not understand. It's fear-mongering if you make a candidate seem one dimensional by using the same word over and over and over.

I am more than willing to consider the issues. I just don't like the use of scare tactics.

I disagree. Even if the word has a traditionally negative connotation it is not fear mongering if it is accurate and I 100% believe that Obama is a socialist.

Every proposal of his has socialistic goals. Take more money from those he considers rich to pay social security for those that haven't contributed to the fund.

Tax "windfall profits".

Or his gems from his Father's Day speech:

At home nursing care (government funded) for all expectant mothers.

Job training and jobs for fathers who pay child support.

In fact the more I hear about Obama's proposed policies the more accurate I think the socialist label is.

When and why did this thread turn into a "Obama is a socialist thread"? It'd be nice if one thread could stay off of that claim for 5 minutes.

The same could be said about someone that follows any and every criticism of the Socialist Obama with a "what would happen if McCain did/said that?" or "I'll bet McCain does/says that too!" post.

I didn't know I wasn't allowed to talk about Obama and his socialist leanings in this thread.

The thread is about McCain's comments, not whether Obama is a socialist, right?

Maybe this one should just be closed. I think it has lasted long enough.

It's not that hard to click a link. When I post stories I always post only part of it and then I provide the link. I had no motives for leaving the last part out, I just randomly highlighted a certain amount and then posted.

And yes, Obama would have gotten drilled for saying this IMO.

Yeah, and I'm Oprah. :D

I don't. I'm still waiting for someone to tell me why the description of Obama as a socialist is inaccurate.

My threads were about something Obama had said or done and had nothing whatever to do with McCain (who I definitely view and only the slightly lesser of 2 evils). What's the difference? Someone felt it appropriate to bring McCain into those threads.

BTW way back in post 2 you were the one that brought Obama into this thread so isn't it in effect a thread about both Obama and McCain?

My post was related to the topic. My post had nothing to do with whether or not Obama is a socialist. So nice try...

I'm done with this thread.

Folks, again these two aren't Washington and Jefferson(though McCain was friends of both), but I think these two candidates are pretty decent men and very capable of leading the country much better than it has been led for the last eight years, at least.
