Let me start by congratulating the boys from Sandy Hook for putting up such a fierce fight.Next Congrats to my royals survive and advance,Thats all that really matters at this point no matter if it is ugly.I'm not going to get into a long discussion here but the overall fouls were in favor of Elliott and Mason missed almost all there free throws and Elliott made almost all theres,But i all keep seeing is excuses why Mason got lucky and won and why Elliott shouldn't have lost.Gees both teams played hard and when it really mattered Mason rose to the top and took the game from Elliott.Good luck tomm night guys lets get a better game face on for this one.

Elliott was fun to watch tonight. The Faulkner's play hard and I was impressed with them. Ferguson looks like a good player, but not the player that many have made him out to be on here. I was impressed with the big freshman, Knipp. Not that he necessarily did a great amount, but he moves well for a freshman that size and looks like he could be a very good ball player down the road.

 

Setty definitely is a very good shooter, but no way was he the best player on the floor or MC's teams. Just about all of his 3's came from Miller drawing the D and Miller kicking it to him for the shot. Miller set all that up. If Elliott's coach says dont help off like some other schools have done this year, then Setty is a non factor. He doesnt do much for MC outside of shooting the ball. Miller is easily the best high school, college, pro, streetball, anything player on that team.

 

MC has to get their stuff together or they will be going home early. Terrible free throw shooting really killed them.

 

Who thinks if Elliott fouls Miller like they should have when he got the ball and they were about to start fouling Elliott has a better chance to win. Think about it, put Miller on the line, he was awful from the stripe as it was. He misses the first and he isnt down there to get the tip or the board like he did on the first two. Something to think about.

 

No doubt Miller fouled on that second board of his. EC has an argument about the calls at the end of the game, thats for sure.

 

You say don't be too harsh on Miller, you shouldn't be so harsh on Ferguson.

He had 19pts and around 7-8 rebds(5 in first half according to radio Stats)

and this was accomplished with a 5star player who has signed with UK:thumb: defending him for almost the whole game. Last time they met he had 27. He is just a junior, and was giving up a year in experience and strength, 51/2 inches and 30 some pounds.

You all played your heart out and won the hearts of 95% of the fans at Rupp!! It was heart warming to see everyone (except of course the "other end" of the court) applauding and cheering for you!!!! You DEFINITELY showed the state how powerful you are!! I don't think there will be any more talk about you being the pretenders in the ratings!!

Elliott played Mason tough, no doubt about it. Mason looked like a team that hammered Elliott last month and figured they would get by easily.

 

Given Paducah Tilghman's performance, I expect the real Royals will make an appearance on Friday night.

Miller didnt exactly give his all on that end of the floor. Several of his buckets were in transition.

 

At one point you say Setty was the best player on the floor, then you say all he can do is shoot? Which is it?

 

Tonight he was no doubt the best player in a Mason jersey.

I called this one in the prediction thread. Elliott having played Mason during the regular season was an advantage. They kept the game close in the 4th and had a great chance to win. There were a couple of calls down the stretch that didn't go Elliott's way. If they did the outcome would have been different.

 

Give Mason credit though, with their backs to wall, Setty connects on three 3's, and Middleton hits one down the stretch.

 

Elliott down one point I believe, Mason Co misses a free throw, T. Knipp gets the rebound and a few folks that were closer to floor than I said that he was fouled.

 

Elliott was close and played with the hearts of Lions. I really enjoyed witnessing the crowd getting behind the small school. That is what I love about the Sweet 16!!!!!

Miller's been hyped since his sophmore year not just since he signed with UK.

Seems like every champion on high school and college level that I've seen in tournaments has had to play that one game where they get the beejesus scared out of them and then play to their max from then on. I think this was Mason's game. The last couple minutes in a tight game are often a no foul call period and teams need to recognize this. I would rather this happen then the game being decided by the officials. Setty hit the threes didn't he? Elliott will be a bigger factor next year but don't forget about Scott County. Elliott benefited from the game against Mason and needs to schedule out of area games next year to properly prepare themselves. Congrats to Elliott on a very good season. Mason looks to be the favorite from here on to my way of thinking. They have the depth and the star player to win two in the same day.

Why does the Mason County coach keep Miller on the perimeter so much? In games like this one, it would seem to me he needs to post up and play inside a lot more. I realize that's not how it will be when he gets to UK, but in high school you play where you're the most effective.
