Congrats to Mason Co you did what you neede to win. Elliott played a great game its to bad we had to have a loser because you both deserved the win last night. I just wished people would realize this is high school basketball there will be mistakes made by coaches,players and yes refs. That dont take away from these boys played one of the best games of the sweet 16. I"ll be cheering mason on to win the title since they beat Elliott. Elliott shouldn't hang thier heads you all was about 2 mins from beating one of the co favorites to win the sweet 16, There are hundreds of schools that would loved to been in your shoes. You will be back there next year thats a lot more than than a lot of schools can say.

Good game by both teams. Elliott did the 16th Region proud. Congratulations to Mason Co. and good luck in the rest of the tournament. I listen to the game and School Boy Radio did a great job.

Does coaching require standing up, or yelling at officials or getting T's during a game? A lot on here seem to think so, but oh well, I DON'T. Coaching requires building a program, spending a TON of time working on that program, having players believe in your vision, and caring about the kids on and off the court. Not many coaches spend 27 years at a small public Class A school. Even less do that and take them to two region titles. Coach Mays has done all of this. He's a great coach, doesn't matter if some of you disagree. It doesn't change what is true.

I have watched about 10 of Mays' 27 years, so yes, I have formed an opinion.

And I've watched him for 27 of them. When he returned in 1990, there was a very poor elementary program. He built the program that built this team and coaches this team as well. He took over a program in real trouble and now that program makes it to the state tournament. Not many Class A public schools make it to the state tournament. Check on the other Class A "public" schools in the 16th region and let me know how many 16th region titles they have combined.

Why would you make a comment about us not talking about Coach Mays' coaching? Plus, I've saw a few of your other comments. You seem to question his coaching quite a bit. That's your right, no doubt. However, his dedication and hard work have helped lead to this Elliott team. The hard work of the parents and players are no doubt huge factors as well. If you haven't been around since he returned in 1990, you have no idea about the hard work, sacrafice and dedication of Coach Mays.

Tonight he was no doubt the best player in a Mason jersey.

 

Miller's presence is what got Setty the shots he had. You have to be stupid to help off Setty and that is what they did. He shot the best of all the Mason players last night, but the best on the team last night is a stretch.

Lots of rumors going around the arena the last two days about the Knipp boys leaving next year for "greener" pastures. Losing the big kid could really hurt their chances.

Lots of people are trying to act like Mason had a bad game was the reason for Elliott

playing them so close. Here are the stats.

Only stat Elliott won in was free throw, but the difference in both FG%'s more than make up that difference. What this does tend to show is that Elliott had a bad game the first time they played.
