I was getting almost no background music during Cook's Who song. BTW Jason Castro was absolutely horrible.

It was acually hard to watch him. I knew, a minute into his first song, that they were going to rip him to shreds. You don't change the words on a classic song. And it doesn't help to forget the words on the next song either.

There's no way Jason should have made it to the Final 4. I guess he got all the pre-teen/teen votes. He's horrible.

If Jason isn't voted off the show will again lose some credibility. Not only were his songs terrible, they just aren't "singer's" songs, does anyone know what I mean?

Had Brooke still been around tonight in his place it would have made for a much better final four. :sssh:

Anyone else watch tonight? I like David Cook going to the finals.

I think the two David's are a lock, but I'm rooting for Syesha.

I was wondering about Simon's comments after the Dan Fogelberg song that David A sang.

My impression was that he had never heard of Fogelberg. His criticism was more on the song than the performance.

They voted the wrong person out last night....

Since they decided to go with this corny boxing theme tonight I guess I'll stick with it.

 

Round 1 was too close to call. David Archuleta's vocals were better but he just doesn't have the stage presence that David Cook does. I'll score this one 10-9 Archuleta. Even if he wins though I don't think he'll do nearly as well commercially as Cook who is a much more polished performer.

Round 2 should just be done away with. They need to get rid of the songwriter's round.

 

David Cook's 80's movie montage style Dream Day just barely beats David Archuleta's syrupy sweet In This Moment. I'll give round 2 to Cook 10-9.

 

Again, this needs to be the last year they do this, neither song was very good but they made the most out of them.

Round 3 allowed the singers to choose their favorite song and they were allowed to choose a song that they had already sung.

 

David Cook a song he hadn't sung before in Collective Soul's The World I Know while David Archuleta predictably went with John Lennon's Imagine. Cook was very good but Archuleta's Imagine was a one of the best performances of the season when he sang it previously. Better song choice by Archuleta. He takes Round 3 10-9 and the fight 29-28.

 

That being said I can't stand Archuleta's stiff stage presence, his twin annoying habits of licking his lips every 10 seconds and singing with his eyes closed and his porkpie hat wearing nightmare of a stage dad so I'm voting for David Cook anyway. Archuleta may be the better singer and may very well win this competition but I think Cook will end up being a star.
