Paula topped herself for craziness tonight. The judges were asked to give a brief review of each contestant after they had all completed theur FIRSST song. At her turn, she proceeded to review Jason Castro's first song and then moved on to review his second song...which he hadn't sung yet. :creepy:

 

Yeah, I caught that...one of many perplexing comments she's made since the show has started.

I thought David Cook was just head and shoulders above the rest of the Top 5 tonight. I'd put them in this order:

 

1. David Cook

2. David Archuleta

3. Brooke White

4. Syeshia Mercado

5. Jason Castro

 

Honestly though, I don't think that any of them were very good except for David Cook. Archuleta just butchered Sweet Caroline and wasn't a whole lot better on coming to America--his vocals were solid on both but the arrangements stunk. That said the other 3 all had at least one bad vocal and none of their arrangements were good either. Even though I think Castro was the worst I think they teenybopper girls will save him again this week. I think Syeshia and Jason will be the bottom 2 with Syeshia going home.

Yeah, I agree. For some reason though the voters don't seem to like Syeshia very much. I think she's marginally better than those two but I don't think she has the charisma of either and that has hurt her and will lead to her going home.

I think Syesha really needs to stay because she is a different type of singer than everyone left. She is the only real "powerful" voice left in the competition.

She's really not that different, she does have a powerful voice but so did Carly. The only one that is truly different in the Top 5 is David Cook and I really think he's the most talented person on this years show.

I don't mean what they do with the songs, I mean the way their voice sounds. I just think it could all sound really alike without Syesha... For the record, I don't think Carly should have went last week either...

At one point, David Cook tried to put his hand on her shoulder. She pulled away and moved to the front of the stage. After the song, she walked off and sulked in a corner by herself, leaving the others standing there, feeling very awkward I'm sure.

She made it way to far. IMO.

Yeah I don't understand why she did that... Seemed pretty rude actually... A lot of people have been eliminated from the contest in all its seasons and I dont' remember too many doing that....

She was on borrowed time. Michael Johns and Carly should have made it to at least the final five...................I feel that Jason is very lucky to still be on the show as well.

Yeah, I had the same problem here.

 

Is Jason Castro purposely trying to lose? I've heard that winning AI is actually not all it's cracked up to be, given that you have a contract and very little input on the decision-making process when it comes to creating the album. I'm thinking he feels he already has a record deal sealed and is purposely trying to avoid the contract that comes with AI. Anyone else getting that feeling?

 

In my opinion, David Archuleta probably has the most to gain from winning American Idol, given his young age. The other three finalists will probably easily get a deal regardless of where they finish.

I was getting almost no background music during Cook's Who song. BTW Jason Castro was absolutely horrible.
