How about Simon's quote about David Cook in which he said as long as this remains a talent competition you might actually win? If they just wanted to freshen it up they would pick mentors that aren't eligible for the senior discount at the local theater. The instruments are there for one reason--to demonstrate their musical ability. It isn't called America's Best Singer, it is called American Idol. Part of being an American Idol, or just a superstar in general is making people want to watch you. Being an entertainer is a big part of that.

I like David Archuletti, I also like David Cook. What's wrong with that?

It really doesn't matter who wins at this point.

We have seen from past seasons that your success is not based on if you are the last "singer" standing.

David Cook is a rocker, David Archuletti is a ballateer, no comparison.

 

I personally think you were not paying close attention in the last few weeks if you didn't notice that Archuletta WAS keeping his eyes open. He just has small eyes. You just don't change that in a few weeks.

Personally I like Cook more than Arch. I think Arch wins

I don't like either one but I think Archuleta wins hands down.

Some people may be more likely to know the players for the New York Yankees, the authors of their favorite books or who is on which side of the road in the BGP political forum. I'm a follower of politics, too, but that doesn't mean that everyone has to be. In many cases (most actually), entertainers give us more hope then any of our elected officials. Music refreshes and revives the soul.

 

 

I agree with you. I just choose not to go to American Idol to refresh and revive my soul. My mom never misses the show, though. She also never misses a chance to pick up the GLOBE,the STAR, and the NATIONAL ENQUIRER at the check -out lanes.

I think there will be, it was obvious who the judges wanted. Hopefully, the American people will see who has the real talent and who is the best singer/performer.

I was with Cook from the beginning. But, I think he blew it last night. He had a chance to shine and sang a couple songs that people are familiar with. By far, his best performance was "Billie Jean" and he did not choose it last night. I liked the fact that he could rearrange a pop song into a rock song. That shows what kind of talent and skill he has. He got away from that and it will probably cost him.

 

I also think that as a singer, Archuletta is better. Just not as musically talented. But I just dont likethe way he looks when he sings or the old ballads he prefers.

 

Still hoping for Cook to pull it out though.

 

I dont care if people say it is a singing or a talent competition. Singing is a talent. If it wasn't a talent, then I should be on stage raking in the dough.

It's kind of ridiculous how commercialized the finale has become with Mike Meyer's new movie Guru Pitka.
