ARC
It was recently posted that Powell Co has the greatest free throw disparity of any team in the state by posting the records straight from the KHSAA record site. Below are both the recent postings and the records from less than 30 days ago. Many people were amazed that something this blatant should be 'on the books'. The recent KHSAA record book 'updated' the free throw attempts to "55" instead of "50" attempts per game, thus removing Powell Co from the record book at least SIX TIMES! Does anyone find it fishy that right after this obvious disparity was pointed out that the record book was 'revised' to drop several of the Powell stats? I wonder how long those records have been in situ .... and ZAP...suddenly a bunch of them are eliminated by the revised rules. A conspiracy theory was thrown up earlier in jest..... And remember, the district tourney will be at Powell Co this year.... Old records in GREEN. I assume the most recent revision is the correct one. Still it's quite fishy that Powell made the list five times within a seven year period 1965-72. The Professor
I may be wrong, but I think one of the problems with records like these is that it's probably only around 30% of the actual record. That is, many, many schools never report things like this. Evidently, Powell County has been good at reporting their statistics over the years, but not all schools do that. If we historically had a 100% of the schools providing information for these records, it's very likely that Powell County's name would drop off the list quite a few times and be replaced by other schools. That's just my take on things. However, I must admit that the record vs. Shawnee is still embarrassingly shocking.
GO15AROD
I wonders how many times some of the other teams in the district would be on the list if all of their stats were to be entered in. Evidentally people don't remember going to some of those places and never getting a call. IMO

ARC
True. Everyone has had their moments. Hopefully things will get better by studying the past and pointing out obvious disparities. There may be 'unsubitted' stats that would change the records, but that is merely speculation. I would hope that blatant 'homering' would become an embarrassment to the home team. It does cheat the kids, and it ain't the kids that have did the cheating. Kind of like gambling on sports and being involved in sports. It should be investigated at the high school level just like it is at the college and pro level.

Nets
Not to take anything away from actual records or any team listed above, but it's very common knowledge around the state that 'stats reporting' in basketball and football can be very, very fraudulent. Padded stats for individiuals are the most notorious, usually in the categories of rushing for football and rebounds for basketball.

Nets
No, I really wasn't talking about the free throws...just making a generalized statement about stats reporting in general. But hearing reports from way back when...it may be a safe bet to assume that a team out of region, really, really got hosed if that many free throws were shot. Didn't Powell Co. return the trip the following year and got drilled by the team they shot so many free throws against the year before? Just what I heard. Louisville Shawnee was ranked #1 in the state when the free throw record was set in Stanton. The next year when Powell played at Louisville I don't think that Shawnee needed much help.
