Worst Beer That You've Had

Featured Replies

Growing up in the Baltimore before the proliferation of microbreweries, you had National Bohemian ("from the land of pleasant living"), Schaefer's ("the one beer to have when you're having more than one"), Carling ("Mabel... Black Label") and Schmidt's of Philadelphia. None of these were anything to write home about.

Blatz (name fits) or Burger. Whew!

Several years ago we had a blizzard. It took a couple of days to dig out, roads to get passable, etc. My neighbors saw that I was about to leace the house and asked if I would take them to the drugstore to get medicine. Medicine turned out to be Old Milwaukee and a carton of Winstons. When they asked if I would like a six pack of their preferred brand for my assistance, I informed them that although I was by no means an expert, my standards were a little higher than Old Milwaukee.

Anybody old enough to remember "Billy Beer"?

I remember "Billy Beer".

"Billy Beer" was named after President Jimmy Carter's brother Billy who ran a gas station in Ga. and was known to knock down a brew or three during the day (and night)

The story has it that Billy was going to run for President instead of Jimmy but Jimmy couldn't pump gas!!!!

Buckhorn Ale... tasted like nothing I have ever had before on this planet and the next day it moved you to read the newspaper several times.

I gave up downing beer and such a long time ago, but when I did, the worst I had was Milwaukee's Best. Awful, aaaaawful.

Since we have a thread naming everyone's favorite beers, why not have a thread with the worst beers?

For me, there are 3 that I absolutely cannot stand the taste of:

Red Stripe

Blue Moon Belgian Wheat (Belgian White)

and

Sam Adams Hallertau Imperial Pilsner

This one I can agree with you on, that was just a bad experience for all of us. The other two I kind of liked.

I tend not to like beers that have a heavy dark color to them and taste like coffee or chocolate. Also not a huge fan of anything with a great deal of hops.

I'm not a big fan of the new Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, and I have never enjoyed Corona for some reason. My Fav.....Longboarder from Hawaii!

Pabst Blue Ribbon

Schlitz

Absolutely! That stuff was terrible, anyone ever drank a beer that tasted like peanuts :D? I am serious, to me Billy Beer had a distinct peanut taste to it:eek:. When I say "distinct", I mean it was bad.

I will say that I liked Billy, just not his beer.......

That was during the same time that "Boones Farm" wine was a chosen "fine wine" by some of us bc it was priced right (around 1.50 per fifth I believe and "strawberry Hill" was a favorite :D) Ahhhhh, those were the days of youth (and stupidity :sssh::lol:)

Simply put, Falls City or Burger, I can't decide.

I'll go with you on the Falls City, but Burger was my beer of choice, back in the day.

All incarnations/variations of Hudepohl. Gag...

Sterling beer.

I remember Billy Beer!! :laugh::laugh::laugh:

I had the misfortune of buying a case of Old Milawaukee Red one time. It took me nearly 3 months to choke it down. It was at this point that I decided to add beer to a list of things that I no longer try to save money on but instead buy what I know is good. The list includes ketchup, toothpaste, toilet paper, hot dogs, bullets and dynamite--and no I won't get into what caused me to put the others on the list. :D

The worst beer I have had was a generic brand. It came in a white can and had black lettering stating, "BEER". I don't even know who made it, it wasn't on the can. It was horrible. No telling what was in it.
