Absolutely agree. Only singled out Danville because of the proximity of the two schools (5 minutes or less apart from one another) and the fact both are in the same county.

 

Didn't Boyle get a pretty decent basketball player a couple of years ago. It don't matter who's the coach, if a kid don't like a certain coach and this and that, they kid may transfer. But the deal is, this must be a move where the child is moving for academics, not solely on athletics if I am correct. (If wrong, correct me someone)

The Boyle superintendent lives 3 houses down from me. Perhaps I should go ask him for an update......

I just had a very interesting conversation with someone "in the know" and he told me that Morriss has asked for a 4 - 5 year contract and he wants to teach. The interview took place in Lexington and he went home to discuss it with his wife. He doesn't have to teach in order to coach but I think it's a plus for him that he wants to. My "someone in the know" says that if these two issues can be worked out then he will be the next coach.

 

So I suppose we will just have to wait to see what comes of this.

They can't! It is my understanding that the football booster club is tryinig to 'legally' become an independent contractor so that they can enter in to a 3 year contract with Morriss with a stipend of $60,000 a year. The school can't operate like that as stated by the superintendent in the latest amnews article. But he makes it very clear that he can't keep an employee from havng a 2nd or 3rd job, or prevent an employee from "working" with an independent contractor (in this case, the football boosters).

 

I don't think this is fair or ethical, and I think it will send a terrible message to the other coaches, players, community, etc. I thought booster clubs raised money for the kids!! If not done correctly, I see this wonderful opportunity turning in to a nightmare for Boyle Co. Just my own opinion. And one last thought, for those who said money wasn't an issue, it is obvious now that it is.
