MTNFAN I am not offended by any of your post. All that I am saying is lets waite and see if Morriss comes and see what the terms are than. Anything herd now is not from the Boyle School System, just hear say.

 

 

I don't see how this will ever pass any "smell" test.

This is how it's going to go down:

 

Guy Morris will accept the job at BCHS, while retiring to his farmland outside of Perryville. Once the job is accepted, Guy will begin to catch and recruit(transfer) all the impact players around the region. After all he does have ties to both the Big-12 and the SEC, and what highschooler who wants to play on the next level would hesitate to pass up a once in a lifetime opportunity?

I'm going to say this once and people who feel it applies can take it however they wish.

 

From the beginning, most Rebel fans on here have said it is not a done deal until Morris says it is.

 

Some have said they "heard" it was a done deal but that is 2nd hand if not farther down the line (the Les Miles and Billy Donovan fiascos come to mind as to why I never even hint about a done deal even if I've heard it. that's just me.)

 

Finally, I have noticed a few posters not connected to the community or the school suddenly tell us how all of this sounds bad or rotten or unfair. To put it nicely (and you can post all you want, you paid your fees) the final reality is it's not your business. Call it what you want, weigh in however you want but your negativism shows (and not only in this thread).

 

There isn't a Boyle backer here who doesn't say, "get over it."

 

Those who wish to be negative can go right ahead. I'm still hoping for a quality hire whether it's Morris, or someone else for the Boyle Football program.

I ditto MTNFAN. HATZ, these are merely my opinions and because I question something doesn't necessarily mean I'm being negative. I think if hiring Guy Morriss can bring excitement back to the program and benefit the kids then absolutely it's what needs to happen. I was just questioning the booster club's involvement. I suppose I can understand to some degree BC folks being defensive about this situation, but I assure you, Rebel and the others that I'm not taking jabs. And, if you're previewing previous posts I've made on other threads, remember what you told me, you're not from here so its none of your business!

I said it ealier, this will set Boyle co. back years. And, I was wrong...Morriss is doing this for the money.....$1million will cause you to coach high school.

 

Too many good young coaches that want to be a head coach without turning your program into a circus.

Burkich was quoted in the paper that "A booster club cannot add money to a coach’s contract".

 

Thomas was quoted in the paper that "rumors that boosters or the Boyle Quarterback Club were involved in the interview process were not true"."We have never talked about the booster club doing anything".

Well, we're waiting. Right now, go pick him up some donuts at Burke's Bakery. Take them over to the Sup's house and invite yourself in for a coffee. Then threaten to withhold the donuts unless he gives you the true skinny. Sounds like a good plan. Be off.

 

That's a pretty good idea actually. My daughter and his play on the same basketball team and I sat next to him today at the game but just couldn't bring myself to bring up the subject. I'm sure he is getting all the inquiries he wants these past few days.

If the booster club does get involved and it is with their bingo money, it will be bad when the charitable gaming commission gets involved. Just my opinion.:dancingpa

The contract is worth $100,000 dollars,not sure if it for a year or two, three, four. Don't know.I say there could be more news on this tonight on the News, or the morning paper.

I think that's why it's taking so long - they want to make sure that it passes all "smell" tests. I feel sure that they want to do this correctly and are covering every base. I, of course, do not know what the guidelines are and what can and can't be done but I trust that the one's who are making this deal - do know. I do know for a fact that Boyle County and their employees would never do anything that wasn't on the up and up. Plus this, if it happens, will be such big news that it would never be something that could be kept quite.

If I was a coach in Morris' situation where I knew I was getting $1 million within the next year, money would not be a big part of the deal. Honestly. $1 million changes family trees. Not to include the money he was already paid by Baylor. If he really is trying to negotiate more money than the average coach than my opinion of this man just hit the ditch.

Focus on the kids! This guy is not the solution IMHO! Especially for that money!
