Wed Afternoon - Several BGP posters with Boyle ties post info that backs up story and a couple are hearing it is more than possible.

Wed 2:47 pm - Wlex updates story online.

Wed 3:57 pm - Rebel K says it is a done deal and we can mark it down. (sort of )

I have heard that Coach Morriss agreed to be an assistant coach at Centre College last year but he took them to the altar, too, and wouldn't say "I do".

I feel like regardless of whether he comes or not, the program has still in some ways been re-invigorated and that the program is showing that they are indeed serious about restoring pride and passion back into BC football by any means necessary. I hope, wish, and pray he comes(I've been granted time to leave work for whenever the press conference is:thumb:) but I will support whomever it may end up being if Guy decides to just retire and farm in Perryville. This is a fun roller coaster though.

Ditto! By scheduling a news conference, one would 'assume' the Boyle Co. administration felt pretty darn confident that they would name Morriss as the head coach Friday (feeling confident Morriss would accept). IMO, Boyle could've/should've done a better job of keeping this particular applicant on the down low.:sssh:

Too small of a town. Guy Morris has been THE topic of discussion for the entire week and I am sure Larry Vaught's phone has been ringing off the hook and his email filled with questions of how true it is. There is no way whatsoever this could have been kept quiet and there is a no way an accomplished journalist such as Larry Vaught couldn't get to the bottom of it all and not report it. With so many people in such a small town knowing so much and him not reporting it, he could have lost a little credibility possibly.

True, good point. However, maybe the scheduling of a press conference was a bit premature. It does make you wonder why you'd schedule a press conference unless you KNEW you would have something to announce.:confused:

Like any small town, sometimes "done deals" end up not panning out -- think Billy Donovan for a very recent example -- and Larry's restraint is showing he's as smart a journalist as I figured him to be.

I'm sure the person that schedule the press conference did it for a reason. I'm also sure that the person that scheduled it knows more to this story than the rest of us. I can't figure why someone would do this and end up with egg on their face after all of this is said and done. This is not just your typical everyday story, with all the tv stations, and newspapers interested right now. I'm sure all of this will come out tomorrow, or very soon after.
