That's my thinking too, but seems like everything you hear and read is that this isn't a 'done deal' just yet. And, I know you can't believe everything you hear, but if they are 'banking' on it and for some unforeseen reason he ends up declining... so much for the press conference, huh?!

I think you seem to believe that everyone is after the prestige and the buck. Some people are in it for the kids and what they can do for them. Guy Morris strikes me as that kind of guy.

 

As for the money situation we are talking about a guy who was just bought out of a contract at Baylor for a hefty sum. He's been the head coach of 2 major universities and he played NFL football for about 10 years. My guess is that if anyone can make the monetary transition it is probably him.

 

If he comes think about what a kid might say. "What did you know?"

He will also be treated as a football God for a few years unless he doesn't win. Not too many people get to hang around with former UK head coaches that had the success he did in the short time he was there. I think it would be good for the state of Kentucky. I bet every kid and coach in the state will be excited to play Boyle if he gets the job, I know I would be.

 

My hope is that many of the athletes that have walked the halls will now be excited to play and come out for the team. I don't think it fixes any problems Boyle has right away but it would be an interesting step in what I believe is going to be a great ride. :thumb:

Are you telling me that you don't think a 7-5 season is success at UK? Well better not tell Rich Brooks that. I believe a 7-5 regular season would be considered successful. As for Baylor, I could care less what his record was there. My whole point was he had a successful season at UK and it would be exciting to get a former UK head coach in the high school ranks.

Oh I wouldn't put a fork in it yet:D My source has never let me down before but there is always a first for everything.

 

Now for myself...I can't quite figure out how a high school could compete with the salary that he could get at the college level but perhaps that's not important.:confused:

 

 

 

I thought I had read somewhere that he couldn't accept a college job as part of the agreement for his million dollar buyout from Baylor. I don't know if that's the case, but it seems like a logical answer to me.

The Advocate Messenger said the press conference was tentatively scheduled for Friday. That does mean it could fall through so I will be cautiously optimistic as we await Friday.

 

I hope everything falls into place. It would be HUGE for Boyle County and for Kentucky high school football as well.

 

I can't wait until tomorrow night's middle school basketball game. Maybe I can get an early confirmation.:sssh:

While this would be huge for Boyle County, I agree with some previous posters and think this would be even bigger for High School football in Kentucky. It COULD possibly serve to further ignite an interest in football across the state and improve participation/competition.

I heard that he will definately be here tomorrow and its basically going to be a "do you want to coach" rather than an actual interview.

Montgomery Gentry for Eddie Montgomery, Rick Dees top 20 countdown and radio show. It's broadcast across the country though I never found it nearly as entertaining as Bob and Tom.

 

Oh, and there is an article this morning in the Hearld Leader on Guy Morriss looking at Boyle Co. I don't have the link right now. Just the newspaper in front of me.
