In all seriousness, this would be huge for Boyle Co and a good shot in the arm for KY Football. How many high schools anywhere have coaches with Morriss' credentials?

I don't think the program is as bad as you made it sound though. Boyle did not have a winning season for the first time since the very early 90's. True. But they were competitive in most of the losses and their schedule was about as tough as any 4A school in the state.

 

What does a Guy Morris hire mean? I don't really know. I think the Boyle program has every bit the ability to be a contender once again and the fans will be happy with that. Most don't expect a run like we had. What will be expected is to be competitive and a threat to do well in the playoffs.

I don't mean the program itself is bad, just that the situation as it stands is not ideal at the present. Boyle Co. does have a football PROGRAM...from feeder programs, to good staff and players, etc. I'm talking more about the unrealist expectations from many (not all) of the Rebel fans. And when the heat is on, is the administration going to 'back' their coaches? That's what I'm getting at. Now, if Guy Morriss is the next Boyle Co. coach, I'd say he will definitely get 100% of support and 'backing' from the administration. And, I'd say at least 95% of total support from the Rebel football community (there's always a few)!! :thumb:

There is a press conference Friday morning

A source that I have relied on for years told me today that Morriss is going to be the next coach. I was also told that he is actually in town today meeting with a few people that are really close to the Boyle program. He actually does own a farm here (he bought it when he was coach at UK).

 

I don't know why he would want to step down from college to high school but perhaps he thinks this would be the best for him right now.

 

For the question....would we "fans" be happy.....I can only speak for myself, but I would be happy with anyone that treats the kids like they should be treated.

 

So I guess we will just have to wait to see what happens but if Larry Vaught says that it might happen then I would have to say that it will.

What time and where? Is it safe to assume you know this as fact? And, if you do already know this, Morriss talked with Boyle today rather than what folks originally said about him meeting with them on Thursday.

Larry isn't going to go 100% because "even he" knows things can fall through. My source told me that it seems to be a done deal but I'd wait until Friday to see.

Wed Afternoon - Several BGP posters with Boyle ties post info that backs up story and a couple are hearing it is more than possible.

Wed 3:57 pm - Rebel K says it is a done deal and we can mark it down. (sort of )

If they scheduled a news conference then the decision has already been made. Right? Geez you would hope so.

I would have no idea but it seems by saying that they will have an announcement Friday that means that they already have someone ready to sign.

 

But who knows - now that Holt is leaving Eastern Ky Guy might stop off there first to apply for that job.:lol:

That's my thinking too, but seems like everything you hear and read is that this isn't a 'done deal' just yet. And, I know you can't believe everything you hear, but if they are 'banking' on it and for some unforeseen reason he ends up declining... so much for the press conference, huh?!

It doesn't necessarily mean a deal has been made. They might have an interview tomorrow, make a decision, and announce their decision on Friday.

He will get a small pay check but he will some benefits, like health insurance, etc. and it would get him off the farm some.

 

Will he really care about a high school football program....no way.

 

Too many good young coaches that want to build a program to turn this into a circus act.

He will also be treated as a football God for a few years unless he doesn't win. Not too many people get to hang around with former UK head coaches that had the success he did in the short time he was there. I think it would be good for the state of Kentucky. I bet every kid and coach in the state will be excited to play Boyle if he gets the job, I know I would be.
