5th Annual All BLUEGRASSPREPS.com Team

All I can say is you may not appreciate how much work goes into the All BGP Team. If we expanded the team the task would be overwhelming.

The question was thoughts.

That was the first thing I thought.

I think the same can be said about Israel(sp) of Lex Cath .
Understandable, but Israel was hurt for part of the season, too. That could have been a factor in his omission.
I can't help but feel that Corey Robinson is grossly over rated.

Granted I only saw him play once but he was so out of sync in that game that it really made me believe that his numbers were due as much to inferior competition as to his talent.

A lot of people around the state, including a good number of posters on this site, watched Robinson play three playoff games on a local television station's webcasts, two in close games against ranked teams. I dare say that most of them felt that Robinson was indeed a legitimate all-state and Mr. Football candidate.

Lone Oak was so overmatched against Lexington Catholic that no QB in that situation would have been able to excel.

Also feel it would be easier to do two teams if you did a Large school team (5 & 6A) and a small school team (1-4A).

If you factor in that 70% of those that made the list are from a 5 or 6A school anyway, it shouldn't be that hard.

Can somebody tell me more about Dae'Ron Williams?
Played tailback, safety and was a dangerous kick returner. Listed as 6-1 and 190. Had a big kickoff return for a touchdown and a huge over-the-shoulder catch that set up the game-winning score in Fulton City's win over Mayfield in the regular season.

Is getting some Division I interest, I hear, but I don't know which schools are on him.

If you knew all the hard work they put into these selections, you would understand that you're missing the mark. But the important thing here is to discuss those who have been selected.

Ok, no one doubts the hard work put into it. It was very well done.

If we were just supposed to talk about how good the list is, then what's the point of the thread?

The question asked was, Thoughts?

That was my first thought.

I'm not criticizing, it is a great list, it was just a suggestion.

Sorry.

A big congratulations to Matt Thomas of Ashland. :thumb::thumb:

I know #41, the little fella from Highlands, will simply be honored to be in company with some of the finer footballers in the state of Kentucky! Being honored by the most knowledgeable football fans in Kentucky is quite an accomplishment to #41 and to all who received this worthy recognition.

Sincere congrats to all footballers for providing exciting Kentucky football during the '07 campaign!

I think if you ask anybody at Trinity they'd tell you Wes Weitlauf was the best player they had on the defensive side of the ball. I think Wes should have made the team over Heuser and Whiting, didn't get to see the kid from Owensboro that made it at LB. At the least, he should been selected as an Athlete.

I can't argue with any of the selections, they are basically the "who's who" of Kentucky, but I was surprised that Grimm from Johnson Central was not named as an "Athlete". Not that I have a dog in the fight, but I did expect him to be there.

I would like to have seen Britt from Lewis Co on as a WR, or Athlete, with 99 receptions, pretty impressive.

Again, I can not argue against any of these, they are great players and deserve their place.

I agree with you, both of these young men deserve a spot on it as well. Very nice list though. I thought Jones from Russell should had been on there too, he started QB and MLB and was the heart and sole of a team that was ranked top 5 in the state all year.

I am not making an comments as I know people spent alot of time to review and select the BGP teams. There will always be names that should be listed but not the end of the world if they weren't.

Congrats to these kids!

Nice job!!!! Congrats to all who made the list.

I echo the same feelings. No criticisms at all either. These players I'm sure absolutely deserve the recognition. But I have to agree with 98NCCalum that my first thought was also seeing the number of 5 and 6A players.

Once again, I am sure that those players deserved to be there, but a list where 70% of the team is from those classes, maybe at least brings up the idea of making a small school / large school division sometime in the future.

Just my "thoughts".

Thanks for all of those who put in the hours to produce the list.
