December 15, 200718 yr Porter did a fine job in the 1st half. He held Vaden to 5 points. When a guy gets on a streak like Vaden was in the 2nd half, it doesn't matter who you put on him. He was in a zone. If you put one of the taller guys on him like some of you suggest, then Porter is stuck with a mismatch underneath the basket. I agree there was no stopping Vaden but Porter wouldn't have been in the game if you put a taller player on him.
December 15, 200718 yr Because nobody else would've even been there to put a hand in his face. Porter isn't great, but he plays harder than anyone but Patterson. I think Vaden would've been hitting open shots instead of contested ones if someone else had been guarding him. Sorry but no.
December 15, 200718 yr Our offense in the first half came off their missed shots. When they started hitting 3's, our offense shut down. Not a good sign.
December 15, 200718 yr OK 11:53 mark in the 2nd half.. He caught the ball pumped faked and then dribble the ball 3 times and then took a 17.37 foot shot. He made it by the way... 17.37 ft, did you measure it? Sorry that made me laugh..
December 15, 200718 yr OK at the 9;47 mark he caught the ball on a fast break and made a layup... Thats twice... You have to be kidding me. Seriously just stop.
December 15, 200718 yr Huge because why? Because it was a two point game when the call was made and Patterson is one of a very few scoring threats available to UK. You think a calling a phantom foul to knock out a top scorer in a one possession game with 30 seconds left isn't huge?
December 15, 200718 yr OK at the 9;47 mark he caught the ball on a fast break and made a layup... Thats twice... A fast break isn't a dribble drive...

Good win for UAB.

You think a calling a phantom foul to knock out a top scorer in a one possession game with 30 seconds left isn't huge? First of all it wasn't a phantom call and he wasn't going to hit a 3 to tie the game.
December 15, 200718 yr Sorry Porter is about a 2 out of 10 on the toughness scale compared to Crawford. Not the ideal matchup??? Porter was possibly the worst matchup of all the possible choices. Almost anyone on the roster would have been a better choice... Not sure if I should even respond to this. If you think Crawford is that much tougher than Porter, than why did Joe get abused just as bad when he tried guarding Vaden? What should the Cats have done to stop him?
December 15, 200718 yr PLAIN AND SIMPLE: Vaden wasn't and won't ever beat UK driving to the hole. Correct. He was going to knock down threes no matter who guarded him.
December 15, 200718 yr Its easy to coach a game after its over. Now you know you would rather give someone a 3 than a layup.... I said I would rather give someone a layup rather than a 3? Ah well we're going to disagree the whole time. I'm not trying to coach after the game...The Cats lost, it wasn't a good game for UK no if and's or but's about it.
December 15, 200718 yr Great effort by the Cats except for the last 11 minutes. Bradley gave everything he had and played a heck of a game. Patterson was solid once again. Varden's performance was unbelievable and one of the best I have watched by an individual player.
