December 15, 200718 yr Imo Meeks could have guarded Vaden today. Quicker and longer than Porter. But you have to play with the hand you've been delt. I agree. Both he and Jasper are as quick as/quicker than Porter, and are longer.
December 15, 200718 yr You guys really want to put Stevenson on this guy? He seriously would have ran circles around him.
December 15, 200718 yr Stevenson at least has the length. Porter doesnt have size or speed. So for the record, you think BCG should have Perry Stevenson trying guard Vaden on the perimeter?
December 15, 200718 yr You guys really want to put Stevenson on this guy? He seriously would have ran circles around him. At least he would have been running instead of having forever to stop and square his feet. With Stevenson you can use him and someone else to trap Vaden off of the "headhunter" screen.

I would have at least been interested to see what Vaden would have had to do off the dribble to the basket, instead of catching and shooting over a slower and shorter defender. When something is not working, might try something else, instead of leaving the shovel in Porter's hands and letting him continue to dig the hole. Any one out there care to take a stab at why this team looked like lost little puppies against a 1-3-1...

December 15, 200718 yr I really have to question anyone's basketball IQ that legitimately thinks Perry Stevenson of all people could have guarded Robert Vaden today. Do you all realize what you are saying? A 6'10" rail thin PF who has trouble defending the post chasing around a player of Vaden's caliber? He would have gone for 60...

Vaden would have left Stevenson at one end of the floor, and before Stevenson knew it UK would be turning the ball over on offense.

December 15, 200718 yr I'm telling you all right now that when a player gets in the zone like that, you put a taller player on him that can jump quick and get a hand up on the shot. That gets in the shooter's head and gets him out of the "zone".

I am just throwing Stevenson out there because he could have guarded him better than Porter did. Stevenson would have the height to at least challenge the shot. Porter was just terrible. I am not saying Stevenson would be my first pick but he would be over Porter in that situation anytime.

If you really think Stevenson should have been on Vaden I may never read another post on BGPreps ever again. Please tell me your kidding.
