The BG Park City Daily News Commentator, Daniel Pike, stated that "I'm not the sort to make early predictions, but my early sense is that Friday's game won't be a disappointment".

 

Just to let you know, he wasn't talking about Highlands. That is a very powerful motivation, having lost the last two championship games, than not wanting to make it three losses in a row.

 

Good luck to all teams that will be on the carpet this weekend. Play to have fun and build memories!!!!

I really don't think anyone was making fun of your mascot in a mean spirited way. Heck, we're Bluebirds. Not exactly the type of mascot that strikes fear in their opponents. Years ago surrounding communities began calling Highlands "Cake Eaters" and they meant that in a not nice way. The Highlands community has taken that and turned it into a positive. It's now used as a cheer and we call ourselves Cake Eaters and we're proud of it.

Just to remind everyone. Such comments are also a violation of BGP Rule #2: No disparaging, taunting, or boastful comments--especially between opponents trying to intimidate each other. This includes name calling or personal attacks toward any member, username, or school.

Highlands wins this by enough to get reserves on the field. Highlands has been one of the most dominating teams I have seen play this season and pretty much ever. They have so many offensive and defensive weapons that they do what they want and they do it well. They execute every play as if they expect to score and usually they do...

I'm with you. Just spoke with my son. He watched BG on film. He says they are a very, very good team. Pass and run the ball equally well. Fast and physical on defense. I think folks thinking Highlands are going to roll over BG are very, very mistaken. I think the Birds will win, but in a very close game. Good luck to both teams and Go Birds. Win State.

 

LN, I'm surprised you get anything out of him. When I ask our son, I get a pre-reherrsed statement " Dad, I'm not allowed to say anything";). I do know one thing, the coaches have been meeting day and night all weekend. They'll have this team prepared, focused and ready to go on Friday. Be ready to go Monday boys!:thumb:

Honestly, the Purples and the Bluebirds...have there been two more ferocious mascots battling for a state title?

 

As for the game, I refuse to think that BG is more athletic than Trotwood was. However, I have zero doubt that BG plays better as a team than Trotwood did. As I've stated in the HHS post game threads. This team is all business. They're very workmanlike and on a mission. I don't see anyone containing all three running threats and if they do, I don't see them containing Jurgens, Draper, O'Brien, Coleman...etc.

 

I think it will be a good game though...

I'm certainly not doubting you, but, if true, BGreen has to be the unluckiest team ever, because the last 2 years the same things were being said about CC and Lex cath.

Not being sensitive. The students at BGHS are very proud of their mascot. I just think as adults, no one should make fun of a high schools mascot.

You all have to remember, I did not attend BGHS, thus, the reason why I stick up for all students and schools.

KHSAA has the rosters and stats posted. I was looking at Highlands roster and noticed they have 45 freshmen on the roster. :eek: That's a lot of kids for one class, considering the size of school Highlands is. They had 106 kids total on their roster. It's a pretty clear fact that they love their football.

45 freshman will not be traveling to papa johns. there will only be about 7 or 8 freshman dressing on friday night.
